What do you think about a game where you play as the flood? It could introduce unique mechanics for the game, more lore, and just in general a interesting story as each person or creature infected is not always outright killed but may be kept alive and in constant agony just for the sake of experiences and memories. However this could take away from the spooky factor that they have considering it would be like showing chiefs face and humanizing him. It alienates our view on them for better or worse. It could definitely be a interesting experience and idea, but if not incorporated well it would be horrible. So what do you think?
I believe there is a Halo CE mod where you play as the Flood. I can’t remember the name of it, but Late Night Gaming made a video about it a month or two ago.
It’s certainly an interesting idea, and as a lore fanatic, I’d love to see some expansion on the Flood. But as you pointed out, expanding on the Flood and how they operate might serve to weaken the spookiness factor that comes with them. So I’m conflicted on whether or not I want a game where the protagonist is the Flood.
I’ve never been a huge fan of playing as non-humans in Halo games, even the Arbiter felt weird to me. I’d love a horror-esque game where you play as a marine fighting the flood. Maybe during the Voi invasion?

This is the video Happy Place8166 recommended. I would like to see a flood add on to an already existing halo game. I think a full blown game with a different sandbox/engine etc. would be over kill. I think a couple of levels added to infinite for a flood campaign a couple years after release would be cool. I personally would rather have an elite or another ODST campaign. I feel like you would have a hard time making a story for a flood base game. Now a Halo wars campaign set in an alternate timeline where you are a gravemind trying to take over the universe would be dope and I do not even play Halo Wars.
It would likely be set in the forerunner flood war/ time line wise as that story has already been established through the games and lore. Perhaps a game placed during tr he forerunner flood war in general would do the job
Maybe if it was a full horror game then it could be interesting. For the main game, I’d like maybe an Invasion playlist where you could play as multiple species like Brutes, Grunts, Elites etc.
