I keep getting FPS drops during matches.
If I run fathom for example, I can max it out @4K resolution and get 60FPS. However with BTB maps, or with breakout maps my games are running at 40FPS @ 4k (with drops down to 20fps), and the most interesting part is that when I lower my settings all the way down to the lowest settings I only get a 2-5fps increase in performance.
This is really annoying, as it makes many maps unplayable.
All of my other PC games are running perfectly, and my drivers are up to date.
My specs are:
Intel 6700K
Asus Strix GTX980TI
8GB of DDR4 @2133mhz RAM
Yep, I have performance problems as well on certain maps even at default settings and I have a 1080 GTX. I also have 8GB of RAM, I wonder if that’s an issue on larger maps?
It might be the ram. I’m on a 4790k strix gtx970 with 16gb 1866 ram and I’m having no issues besides no ultrawide resolution support. Largest match I played in had 16 players and didn’t notice any fps drops
For the others having framerate drops, try setting the Power Management Mode for Halo 5 in the Nvidia control panel to use “Prefer Maximum Performance”, so the GPU doesn’t downclock when playing the game. There seems to be an issue where the game downclocks the GPU when it shouldn’t and causes framedrops/stuttering. This fixed it for me on a GTX 970.

Man you’re a legend. Never posted in these forums, had to log in and thank you because this was my exact issue, with a 970 as well. Just assumed the PC port was crap or my computer was not as good as I thought it was, as soon as I changed that setting its BUTTERY on all max settings. Thanks a ton dude

No problem… but it will still drop frames on certain forge maps, especially in bigger lobbies. Also, the port is not very good… for one thing it crashes constantly (closes itself) for many people, myself included. Even more so after the recent update.
Yeah for sure, it still has its issues (same for Forza Horizon 3) but MAN it’s way more playable now by leaps and bounds. Hopefully they keep doing optimization passes or UWP stuff gets better.
