Anyone else have this happen? You come around the corner, and an enemy Spartan is rushing towards you. You start to unload your clip and jump/boost outta the way. He, of course, goes evasive and you swing the crosshairs to keep him in your sights… And your spartan throws the g--Yoink!- elbow. Why in f 's name would you have the melee button on the same analog stick you aim with!? Why can’t I remap it to the -Yoink!- b button instead!? I’d take accidently crouching over the stupid elbow any day! Those few seconds interruption in shooting are always enough to get me killed!

Wouldnt even need that. A different button layout would take the melee action of the stick and map it to something else.
But and Scuf or Elite Controller would definitely be a solution.

There is remapping for the normal Xbone controllers if you look in settings through the Xbox.

You should be able to download the accessories app that the Elite controller uses for your regular controller as well. Just not as in-depth as the elite.

you mean in pc games, i have never seen a console game that ships default with the ability to remap all your buttons to a custom layout

You do not change the layout in the actual game… You change it in the accessories app.

On xbox one use the xbox accessories app, you can remap your buttons. Just be careful tho, because it’ll change the way you interact with all sorts of menus and uses that you didn’t think about.

Ok, yeah I found the menu y’all are talking about. Got it switched around now. And yeah first thing I did was wonder why the b button wasn’t backing out of menus.
haven’t tried it in a match yet, but I’ll be glad to not lose a gunfight cause the stupid elbow gets thrown out.
Why the hell aren’t you playing with melee on RB or B?
Play on Recon settings.
