Four of these short stories were made into Motion-Comic Animations, done by the freelance artist known as ONE (who animated The Mona Lisa, The Return, and Midnight in the Heart of Midlothian) and MoreFrames (which animated Headhunters).
There is an unfortunate truth about telling stories of a video game in books. Not everyone wants to read books. Which is precisely why 343 Industries made that partial animated adaptation of Brian Reed’s comic series, resulting in Halo: Fall of Reach. This animation was made for the sole purpose of reintroducing Spartan Fred, Kelly, and Linda to players that don’t desire to read books so that when Halo 5 suddenly presented Master Chief with three buddy-Spartans, there would be very few people who go on asking “Woah, who are these three nobodies who are teamed up with Master Chief? Why are they acting all buddy-buddy?”
But I do have a possible solution:
why not make a small animation studio that translates the Halo novels from a written media to a motion picture media?
Think about it.
Making motion comic adaptations of Halo’s many novels, retelling their stories from start to finish.
Each Arc of the story being a separate novel from the franchise, starting off with the original six novels of Halo’s books -
- Halo: The Fall of Reach
- Halo: The Flood
- Halo: First Strike
- Halo: Ghosts of Onyx
- Halo: Contact Harvest
- Halo: The Cole Protocol
Having a small animation studio made by Microsoft and focusing on making animated adpatations of their novels would be a great way to help ensure that more Halo fans have a deeper understanding of the story of Halo, especially given the fact that in order to understand what the heck is even going on in 343’s games you HAVE to have read the novels in order to understand how the ending of one game led into the beginning of another game.
Call it Studio-117 and have the likes of Juan Richard Feliz , aka ONE, help produce this series of animated motion comics to depict the scenes of Halo’s deeper story.
Over the course of a decade, it is entirely possible to have translated possibly twenty of the novels currently out there into animated media.
Whaddya guys think?
