Okay, so I recently started getting back into Halo 3 and playing some Lone Wolf matches. Apparently my total EXP was never going up, and I was constantly stuck on Recruit Grade 1 ever since I had Halo 3. But according to my Halo 3 service record, I have 134 EXP, which means I should be at least Captain. Can anyone tell me what’s wrong with it? I’ve heard about modders setting people’s EXP to negatives so they never rank up, but I doubt that’s what is happening here.
Are you playing on Xbox 360 or Xbox One via backwards compatibility?
If you’re playing on Xbox One, you may need to resync (re-download) your Xbox 360 profile as it is possible it’s not received the data correctly.
I can’t provide any advice on Halo 3’s modding situation because I’ve never personally seen a modder, nor am I familiar with what they can do unlike Halo 2.
Are you talking about your overall rank or playlist rank? Halo 3 has three different ranks:
-True Skill: This is the highest level you’ve earned in a rank playlist
-EXP: This is the total number of wins you’ve earned in matchmaking
-Playlist Rank: This is a secondary rank. Each playlist will show a rank that basically shows which playlist you spend the most time in. This rank is only affected by the number of wins you earn. You can go all the way up a 5 Star General which takes 2,000 EXP (wins) in that one playlist.
Does that make sense?
I’m referring to the EXP. I should’ve been at least a captain by now with 135 EXP in matchmaking.
Also, I don’t get any ‘Total’ EXP, only playlist EXP in matchmaking for some reason. I tried re-downloading it but that didn’t do anything either, so I’m sorta stuck without ranking up. You can also check my Halo 3 service record.
Your highest skill is 11 so you won’t get any higher than Lieutenant Grade 2 at the moment. However, it is odd that your rank has not proceeded past Recruit yet.

I was just going to ask what your highest level was. You need at least a level 20 to get up to the rank of Captain.
