I have been stuck in the Gold 3-5 ranks for a few seasons, and frankly I’m getting sick of it.
I’m not getting sick of the rank itself. If I’m only good enough to get gold, that’s fine. But whats with the game constantly pairing me against Platinum Diamond and Onyx players?
Whats the deal here? Why am i not facing mostly people in my own bracket? Shouldn’t i be getting more credit for doing well (winning) against these ranks, and less penalized for when i do poorly (lose) against these ranks?
Is Gold essentially the bottom rank now, and everyone worse/same has already quit?
That’s not what he’s arguing about here guys. If you actually took the time to read his post he’s questioning why he’s getting matched up with people of a higher skill level instead of matching people with the same skill.
To OP, I honestly don’t know why it’s happening to you. The only reason I can come up with is when you start performing well against people around your skill level, the game will start to match you up against higher ranked players to I guess see if you can perform well against them. If you start to constantly lose against Platinum, Diamond, and Onyx players and not making any progress in your Division ranking, the game will start matching you up again with similar ranked players.

Why do you want to get a higher rank than gold if you’re complaining to play against diamond/onyx ? It will only increase your chances of being matched against more skilled players. It’s actually pretty easy to get out of gold even solo. If it’s not for you then maybe this is the rank for you. But i agree with Golds being matched against diamond/onyx is pretty unfair.

Exactly. I just want to play people in my own rank bracket - whatever that may be.

my guess is its loose matchmaking restrictions to make finding games easier, so, thats a second on population issues.
OP - no offence, but if you can’t beat Plats and Diamonds, then you deserve to be in Gold. If you have the skill then you’ll be able to push further up. But as others in the thread have said, you should be a legit Diamond skill level to push through Gold and Plat as you’d need to carry your team for several games.
And as others have also said - team up! I see that you’re in the same spartan company as me, there’s plenty of people there that would team up with you. I take it you have a mic?

Either way any half way competent player can easily get out of gold. Work on your game. Don’t worry about the MM system.

That’s not how a ranking system should work at all. How is a gold going to prove he should be plat by only playing gold?
If you live in a large country such as America you should be able to find games in the focused and balanced search categories, which will place you within not only a better host connection, but also more accurate matchmaking. I personally live in NZ so I am forced to put up with the painful expanded option, but you might be able to get away with balanced or maybe even focused anywhere else. As for me playing expanded my average rank is Diamond+, so that aspect does not affect me much.
