I’m normally not an Automatic Weapon user, but after the TU I’ve noticed that it is so much harder to kill with them.
I’ve been playing Regicide with the suppressor since the TU dropped and I’ve gone negative almost every match so far. I’m not sure if it’s because the accuracy/aim assist has been reduced for all Automatics, but it’s frustrating. The extra damage added doesn’t seem to be helping me much unless I’m within a 5-10ft distance between my enemy, and even then…
Every Precision weapon seems to dominate at close range now, and it is extremely hard to do well with an automatic when I am using it in its intended range. BRs and Carbines are just destroying me whenever I go in for a close range Suppressor kill.
Anyways, I’m really happy with TU update overall, it was a much needed change for this game. I just feel that Automatics aren’t very useful now in my opinion.
Does anyone else agree, or is it too early for me to conclude that automatics suck after the TU?
I am yet to use one but have been killed by quite a few. At close range they seem to melt players. At longer ranges though… Not what they used to be, which is good I guess.
I noticed now that I dont get killed from a scrub using the ar from far away anymore which is nice to see. DMR is useless close range finally as it was intended. It seems the ranges of the weapons with this update are evening out. I can’t state too much about it as Ive played one game but the movement speed to me seems to be the biggest difference. Moving quickly around the map with sprint makes it very difficult to camp in corners with a shotgun now and hit the target. It basically forces you to move around the map which is what this game needed.
I went 29-6 in my only match but I was playing scrubby players. I havent played much so Im sure my CSR is in the toilet right now. I consider myself a good Halo player so it seems this update seems to reward better players. Im gonna play with my buddy tonight and we’ll see if we dominate again like we used to. I have to put frags on my class because with the faster movement speed plasma grenades are not as useful either.
Overall Id say the update definitely benefits the better players. If they just toned down the aim assist a bit on the precision weapons I think the game would be perfect. Also did they update the personal ordinances? I feel like I get more reasonable drops which brings more balance to the game.
60 kills goes by quick too no longer a burden to get to that number.
Overall a nice job and a big step in the right direction. Now if we can get a playlist with weapons on the maps for a more classic arena style the game will be almost back to its roots.
Well I played 2 games with my AR loadout and I did it pretty well. I’ve noticed a huge aim assist reduction but the increase of damage and accuracy make the AR (and Supressor and Storm Rifle too I guess) very good weapons.
My loadout:
AR
Human Pistol
Human Grenade
Regeneration Field
“Infinite sprinting”
Explosives
i might be just because you’re playing regicide. when i play dominion or KOTH people have to get close to get the objective. i haven’t used them much in regicide but i do very good with the suppressor in the two i listed.
Yea I was having trouble too with the suppressor. The assault rifle and storm rifle were going great but the suppressor was kinda flopping. I have a theory that it’s because it recived the smallest overall damage buff:
BR, 5 to 4 shots, 20% increase
Carbine, 8 to 7, 12.5%
AR, 16 to 13, 18.75%
SR, 16 to 13, 18.75%
Suppressor, 20 to 17, 15%
Hmm so maybe it’s not the damage, could be its the most reliant on aim assist.
I just got 28 kills with the Assault Rifle in Complex BTB Infinity Slayer. This thing is a monster now! I’ve picked up a Suppressor but using it was suffering. Suppressor definitely needs more aim assist than other automatics due it’s range is shorter.

Just saying, I do not think its fair to just compare weapons based of damage buff. Sure BR seem to have a large increase in damage, but if i recall correctly it has a slight reduction in RoF.
Not to mention other factors like aim assist, spread, stuffs like that.
It feels like compared to the radical buffs to the BR and the Carbine, the very minor buffs the Automatics got sets them quite a ways behind them, to an almost worthless status (at least as your primary weapon) especially since the Magnum’s very VERY minor buff basically leaves it wanting in a mid range engagement with anything but a DMR or LR.
The Automatics are now pretty much only useful as secondary weapons. And even then I would almost not want to waste my tacktical package on them when the Boltshot fits the CQC role just as well.

Well that makes sense I guess. Doesn’t the Suppressor have the fastest RoF out of the three Automatics though?
The suppressor’s accuracy is very bad compared to the AR and SR. That probably is the biggest problem I have when using it now.

More like bullet magnetism I my opinion. The shots are projectile instead of Hitscan.
The AR still feels good and it actually takes a bit of skill to use effectively at any range, which is good. But I think the storm rifle and suppressor suffer more than necessary from the aim assist or magnetism reduction due to their projectile nature rather than being hitscan.
I thought the storm rifle worked pretty much fine before the weapon updates, it was already decently hard to get kills at any kind of distance and now its competition clearly outshines it. I don’t want my storm rifle to become a no skill muzzel stuffer
I have not used the storm rifle much yet, only a few times because I’m afraid I’ll be ripped apart, so I am basing this off of those few times. Haven’t used the suppressor at all yet.
On another note, the Saw has somewhat surprisingly become an incredibly dominant weapon. I can go up against 2 people single handedly at mid range and with burst firing I am surprised if I don’t manage to at least kill one as well as strip the shields on the other.
They’re not as much of a spray and pray weapon anymore. It actually takes a little more skill to use which is a good thing. It will still chop people down like no ones business when used correctly.
The automatics actually take skill to use now, which I like, it balanced the versatilities of the auto’s. If you’ve been getting negatives, its due to your aim. Practice a bit more.
