Struggling with Aiming

Hey, I’ve been really struggling with aiming in this game which is weird since I usually have great aim in all Halo games. I’m not sure if its the sensitivity or the reticle being in the centre of the screen. Has anyone any tips on how to improve it with some setting changes?

There is less aim assist in the game so previously you just had to aim near a player to hit them, now you actually have to hit them.

There are no tips and tricks other than practice really as we aren’t used to it being so difficult.

If FFA is AR/Pistol starts I am in for a bloody awful time.

Literally the only way to improve in Halo Infinite: “Git gud”

I do feel myself getting a little better but they need to make a few changes hopefully because half the time my aim is completely off.

There’s a lot less auto aim in this game that’s for sure.
I can aim well with virtually every weapon apart from the Sniper & occasionally the Commando.

I feel like the recoil combined with the lower auto aim for the Commando definitely makes it harder to use at range.

I think that one important tip is to learn the red reticle ranges from which the most aim assist is active. This is for example very helpful with the sidekick, start shooting from a distance and close in to get a red reticle for an easier headshot.

Something that could help also is to burst fire the automatic weapons, greatly reduces the recoil.

I feel like its impossible to shoot properly with the sidekick and theres also something off about the physics of grenades, where I would have got hits in all other Halo games I dont in this.

I felt the same way when I first started playing, had nothing to do with aim assist for me it was the preset dead zones and low FOV. I kicked up the FOV to 100, turned off the dead zones and the aiming felt smooth again. I’ve been doing well in every game since.

Dead zones to 0?

Yeah, it’s rough if your playing on a basic controller. I tightened my analog sticks up a notch and it helped tremendously. It’s the lack of aim assist in comparison to other Halo games. Halo 5 had insane aim assist/bullet magnetism.

I just switched from Halo 3 to this and Halo 3 felt wayyyyy better.

Turned off deadzones just like you said, and MAN… Aiming feels so much better than before, thank you!:sob:

If the game launches with this little aim assist I’m not playing. I don’t have days to dedicated to this game to “get good”. Back in the Halo 1, 2 , and 3 days you can just pick up the controller and have fun. That’s why those games were loved back then. Now 343 expects you to dedicate hours to learning how to aim. F’ that! I’ll just play another game that respects my time.

Infinite now requires genuine skill. Nothing wrong with the game. People who are actually good will now shine over the people that crutched with the crazy aim assist H5 had. The new AA is fantastic.

Lol did you read what you just wrote? You want assistance from the game because you don’t want to get better? C’mon man

Im struggling with aiming too and my girlfriend is REALLY struggling. I had to lower the sensitivity to improve

I just want aim assist how it was in the older Halo games. I don’t play ranked, I don’t play to “eSports ready”. I play videogames for fun. If I’m struggling to aim in a games then I’m not having fun.

Make fun of me all you want, I’ll just be one less player in multiplayer when the game launches.

Once again, I just want aim assist how it was in the older Halo games.

Yeah, there’s a lot less aim assist, I’m not the best aimer in Halo but I can consistently land headshots. Now I’ve found myself having to finish off bots with melee or grenades or body shots more than usual. Can’t hit jack with the commando or skewer lol. Glad the weapons range is available for me to git gud.

This is untrue. There is still lots of bullet magnetism in this game. I checked in the arsenal thing. If the edge of your reticle is on the target it hits. ESPECIALLY when your reticle is red. AA or “sticky aim” is still in the game but significantly turned down compared to previous titles and FPS games in general. That is what the OP is referring to. I think the AA is too low and bullet magnetism should be turned down. Not a fan of magnetism at all however higher AA than this is fine. Right now it often feels as if my AA turns completely off mid fight and my aim goes everywhere. That might be an actual glitch though and it does turn off. i’ve noticed lots of PC players with a controller saying similar things whilst Console players have said it’s fine.

I turned down my Deadzone and Aim Acceleration for much snappier response. Would recommend playing around with both of those options while trying dif sensitivities till you find what feels right.
