Strongholds

Could we get a replacement AI when someone resigns from the start of a strongholds game against AI? Quitting seems to be a trend in this gametype (hard to blame people) and I have found it to be quite difficult to win 2v3 unless the other person is very in tune with you. Even then, it is still annoying. 343 please help.

I would get rid of the timer in that. Better game if you had to destroy bases and capture all the points to win.

That would make for too long of games

I’d rather just have them get rid of the Gametype all together, barely anyone likes it, I absolutely hate strongholds, and I can barely tolerate domination, deathmatch is what I want out of an RTS not this objective based crap, I wish they worked on a free for all gametype, and maybe even a diplomacy like gametype, defenders vs attackers wouldn’t be a bad idea either, although they’d have to put in the effort of making or modifying maps for that particular gametype, I just hate the limited timed objective based gametypes, I want my games to last until I say I want to end it

I like it, its good for quick tests for new units

I want a strongholds variant that is basically deathmatch with the strongholds controlling you population.

No unlimited resources and no auto-tech and auto-building.

I wish we had more freedom in creating custom games like in Halo 3. These seem like things we should be able to change in the settings.

definitely should be more options.

No reason at all to get rid of a gametype that is something other than death match or domination whether anyone likes it or not why limit the game by another factor? its nice having 3 variants you need to prepare for. its not a duty of us players to like something its our duty as players to be great at what is put in front of us unless its a game breaking issue then we all agree.

Strongholds would be more fun if the opposing team was not so focused on taking out your main base, and actually tried to get strongholds. If the game type is about having the most strongholds, then why do we have the ability to just take out the other player’s base. At that point it’s just deathmatch. It’s not really fun when you can’t play because the whole other team is targeting you, to get you eliminated.

Same here. I lost a lot of stronghold games because people leave within the first 10 seconds, and having the AI replacement would make it more fair & fun. I just block the people who quit early because I don’t want to get stuck in the same match with them. Though the man problem for me is when the other team ignores the strongholds and goes straight to your base and destroys it. At that point you might as well just play deathmatch instead.

A replacement AI would be nice, but even 2v3, it’s extremely easy to cheese the enemy AI if you know its behavior and are decent at micro.

Make two scouts at start, send them and the infantry to catch the furthest strongholds first to distract the enemy. Work backwards and if your team is slow to cap, take the strongholds for yourself. In the meantime, set rally point to a far corner, send hero unit and some healers.

Once t2 is available, Banished can spam 14+ Locusts in less than a minute to join their hero. UNSC can run hogs, hornets or sentinels.

Hero goes in first with healers to draw turret fire. Rest of the units go in two groups, split around the enemy base to avoid leader powers. 9/10, the AI’s army will be distracted with the strongholds and you have free reign to steamroll their main bases.

Just so you know blocking someone does not prevent you from being matched with them in the future.
