Edit: I’m not opposed to having Strongholds with KoTH. I am 100% opposed to Strongholds and no KoTH (current H5 reality).
Honestly, I don’t mind Strongholds only because it’s been in pretty much every FPS I’ve played in recent years, so I’m pretty used to the mode. KoTH is classic and I’d like that to be in H5, but Strongholds doesn’t really bug me. It was pretty fun when I played it on Basin a few nights ago.
I really like strongholds but we need KOTH too.
I like Strongholds a ton more in 4v4 matches (often on smaller maps) and I like KotH about equally as Strongholds in 8v8 matches (on bigger maps).
KotH and Strongholds really offer two fairly different game-play experiences with the only real similarity being that they’re both types of territorial holding modes. I actually find that 1-Site Extraction is a much closer representation of KotH in it’s game-play experience – tactics & strategy wise – and is the better option for 4v4 matches.
Strongholds is okay, but KOTH is where it’s at! The thing with strongholds is they’re easier to hold than to capture, so whichever team scores first usually ends up winning (in my experience) whereas with KOTH, the hill is hard to hold /and/ to capture. Plus it moved around, that made the game feel more varied, hectic and fun!
I do like strongholds a lot though… I voted for koth.
Thanks for the votes everybody. Keep 'em coming. I agree with most of you. Getting pretty irritating to have to lobby for Halo playlists to return to Halo games though. By irritating I mean it’s complete -Yoink-.
KOTH is part of the Halo basic game modes. These are staples in the franchise. They all should be included at launch.

Please include King of the Hill. I’m not at all opposed to Strongholds; in fact, I enjoy Strongholds. But not having KOTH makes me sad. Hell, the Master Chief was playing King of the Hill when Dr. Halsey first found him when he was a child. That’s reason enough…right??
