pretty much as the title says, trict true skill searching should be the standard for halo across the board, casual or competitive playlist it doesn’t matter, maybe a little less strict in the casual playlists but still strict, this is to allow for the most balanced and fair games no matter what playlist you choose, it will also mean that everyone can enjoy the game because you’re not getting your -Yoink- stomped and not feel like your shooting fish in a barrel all the time.
this could also keep more people playing the game as well, with every game you’re in, or, er… the majority of them they’re balanced then there will be less rage quitting and people more inclined to stay simply because they enjoy the game, while other games on the market will match you against anyone of any skill creating extremely lop sided games, halo 4 will match you evenly making it more appealing over other games.
343i did say their truskill system would be improved/fixed from Reach. Hopefully we can assume that it means it’ll work better and give us fair matches.
And Halo 4 is going to need good truskill matching to give all this loadout stuff a chance. It is balanced to be a playstyle enhancement, but there is still an advantage if one player has everything unlocked and another doesn’t. The matching should take into account skill and unlocks, so there aren’t any major issues with that.
If only we had detailed information about the ranking system(s?) That would help us understand not only the ranking structure, but what would be being used to match us up.
I’m not that experienced in Mutliplayer, I’m kind of a recent player. So, if it wasn’t too much to ask, could you explain what True Skill is? And how do I know what my True Skill rate/rank/number is?

true skill is a system that runs in the background that tracks your skill level based around certain calculations, the search engine used to match players together uses this to match players around about the same skill level to have the most balanced and fair games possible.
the playlist specific 1-50 in halo 3 and arena in reach were just a visual representation of true skill so the only way to know somewhat reliably what your skill was was to play in these playlists, this topic isn’t about whether these playlists should return (they should) though.
Leave true skill in ranked. Social is a playlist meant to have fun and pick up and go. I don’t want to her to try every single game of halo. Social is a place to sit bak relax try new things and have a blast with friends.

wrong topic, this is about using strict true skill searching in every playlist so no matter what playlist you’re in, casual or competitive you’re going to be matched up evenly which maximizes the enjoyment of the game and appeal to playing the game.
there are already 2 topics active about rank at the moment.

you don’t have to try with strict true skill searching, if you don’t try in one playlist then you’re true skill won’t be as high as it will be in playlists where you do try so you can use social to sit back and relax…
without strict true skill searching, you get what happened in reach, we do not want a repeat of that again for obvious reasons…
I agree that we should have strict True Skill in every playlist. This way, you don’t have to worry about even playing Living Dead without having noobs who don’t even know how to fire a shotgun or swing an energy sword on your team or against you. The teams will be more evened out skill-wise, and you wll pretty much have people about your skill level to work against to beat in score, K/D, etc. for incentive to win as well as racking up XP for your progression levelings. For skill tracking, I think that I read a suggestion that we should have a leaderboard either here or in the game itself so we can track our progress on our skill level.

Again a great idea for the lesser skilled but if you have a high true skill overall you would have to play good people all of the time in social.

true skill is more playlist specific, if you play crap in social while good in competitive then you’ll match crap in social and good in competitive.
