Streamers, stop badmouthing the games you love

I mean seriously, why the toxicity sometimes? My crew ran into a twitch streamer last night, and we were beating him fair and square and halfway through he started getting toxic in the chat. Obviously, that pissed us off, so we all targeted him the rest of the match. We all went to check out his stream afterwards sending him gas and were surprised to find him spending the next half hour -Yoinking!- about 343 industries and the Halo gameplay in general. That really upset me, if you dislike the gameplay, why are you playing? If you don’t like that better players know more of the meta than you, learn the meta. I’m not going to post who it was, but there is a possibility that the streamer will read this, so just stop. And really stop calling everyone better than you KIDS. Really? What are you, like 25? We’ve literally been playing Halo longer than you’ve been alive, that’s why we wrecked you. It’s okay. Stop being toxic in the game chat, you gain nothing by antagonizing us in the chat. That only tells us that one of the enemy is toxic, so you become a target. And really don’t act tough. “1v1” in the game chat just makes you look like a child. The guy you lost that sniper battle behind the shield to, would literally beat you 50-0 in a Ce sniper battle… and you’re using a MOUSE AND KEYBOARD!

Being toxic in the game chat is disrespectful enough, but then you spend the next half hour playing Halo 4 while complaining about how 343 and the Halo franchise in general works? Seriously, you look like a child and lower the overall reputation of Halo players in general. Halo is Halo, and if they were to change anything it’d stop being Halo. He got upset that we blocked certain teleports, that’s just part of the Halo meta. If you want to beat us, get better. Look at our game history. We’re good, but we’re not invincible.

Everyone understands there are toxic people in a gaming population, but streamers should try to filter themselves a little more. It’s even worse that that’s the very first game in your stream that night. Everyone gets on tilt, everyone wishes Halo did things slightly differently, but it is what it is so it’s an even playing field. Those little quirks that you feel rob you of some kill, also rob us. You can say whatever you want about us, and if you really want to put your foot in your mouth send us that 1v1 invite, but it’s not the game’s fault you get wrecked sometimes. Everyone does.

So much yes. Then the viewers start. Then it’s just how bad this game is.

I think everyone needs a break, myself included. I’ve been toxic these last couple of days, I keep saying ok break time then the boredom comes cause of winter/staying home and I get back on. If I don’t take a break today I know it’s casual time. Not even limiting my medicinal intake today.

Treat yourself Halo players, give yourself some peace. Have a great day.

That’s just how it is. Streamers will bad mouth the game. If it can’t go there way, they’d rather everyone go down with them. That’s why i only watch Phasmopbia streams.

I stream, but I don’t bad mouth. I get upset at the game, but I don’t say anything bad about it. However I do want to explain that I can see where they’re coming from in a sense. As a streamer you have to build up this new persona. And this persona is who you want to be, obviously. You can be the over excited streamer, the call out every move streamer, the super interactive streamer, etc. But in this case this person chose to be the disgruntled player streamer. Basically you build up a persona for people you want to attract. I’m pretty sure there’s a lot of people that dislike MCC or Halo by that means and they join the stream to bad mouth it as well with people who agree with them. That’s the type of people he’s probably trying to reach (no pun intended).

I would think that being yourself and not trying to be something or someone that you are not is the best course of action, like with most things in life. But that’s just my opinion.

Did this streamer hit that much of a nerve on you that you had to post a rant? He’s living rent free in your head.

I mean, they have to keep their reputation up somehow. BAdmouthing is the cheapest and easiest way to save themselves
