I know stray objects can hurt a spartan, or even kill a spartan. Stray objects like a tire from or bumper off a warthog, or a gear off a chopper. I’m not sure if stray weapons can kill you as well, but if they cant, they should be able to. I was watching a video on youtube where a sword flew past the player and didn’t kill him, maybe it just wasn’t close enough, but I think it would have looked awesome if the sword did kill him.
It would be the best if a sword could stick in to someone.
Well, normally, throwing a gun at someone, or “tossing” it when you die wouldn’t do much to a Spartan’s shields in gameplay and canon. If an energy sword went flying past you for some reason, I guess there could canonically be some damage. But its mainly gameplay issues, where falling weapons most likely don’t do anything construcrive towards overall gameplay.
But it would be funny to crush a Grunt by dropping a rocket launcher on its head…
I know that vehicle parts can hurt and possibly kill you but it’s not that often. I think when a vehicle explodes, it should send pieces of debris shooting all over the place which can seriously damage your Spartan.
As for the weapons, I think they should just take a tiny bit of your overshields down.
I’ve always wanted to have a weapon go off if it hit the ground from a high(ish) fall. Oh, so you killed that guy who was Fuel-Rodding from that ledge? BAM! Green ball of fury to the face JUST as the -Yoink!- attemp beings! I think if a Sword flies at you it SHOULD kill. I mean, why not? Why should my hand magically power the sword to kill?
> Please no. There’s already a glitch in Reach where if you Bulltrue a lunging Sword wielder you get killed by his flying Sword.
If a weapon is in someones hands it should only do damage if the player shoots or melees you. Its just a glitch. You can walk up to a bumper of a warthog and come back alive.
Weapons should only be lethal when held by a spartan. Saw a video of a falling DMR headshotting a player.
Random objects (cones :3) and vehicle part should deal damage tho. Amount of damage depending on size and speed.

The DMR shooting as it hits the ground is a glitch. A weapon flying through the air is no different from a tire, a weapon should not do as much damage as a tire, but its still an object. Weapons like swords or hammers should be the only weapons that can kill you when stray. When in nobody’s hands, a weapon is no different from any other object, I see no reason why a weapon shot from an explosion wouldn’t do damage to the spartans shields at least.

Achievement Hunter’s Fails of the Weak has a few clips of stuff like this. A guy is killed, and when his DMR or Sniper hits the ground it lets off a shot that miraculously kills an enemy. Funny glitch sometimes…

I think the only way it would work is if it was a sharp weapon or falling from a considerable height and even then it is not certain.

Killing sword user is usually close call due to sprint. This would mean you’ll get killed almost every time, because the sword will fall through you.
I would have to say no, while the chances of a DMR comes flying across the map and hits me in the head are obviously low, I would hate if it happened. Although it would be kind of cool if, after your warthog blows up, you die and your weapon soars across the sky and you get a kill from the grave.

Okay then, new rule, weapons can only be harmful when traveling at a certain speed.
I don’t really understand why people don’t agree with this. Pleas explain to me the difference between a weapon and a random object being shot at someone. Random objects are usually bigger, which is why I think weapons should not do as much damage, unless its a big power weapon, like a rocket launcher or spartan laser.

Being smacked with a large object is what tends to be the weakness of the spartans. sure they could withstand standard weapon fire, but when it comes to the size of the projectile, the bigger the worse.
I’d settle for more debris from exploding vehicles, and lethal debris from said event. Killing someone by throwing or dropping a weapon is not a good idea imo, especially not with the usual p2p lag/teleportations that occur. Learn from CoDs mistakes…

I never said anything about dropped weapons killing people, and I didn’t say anything about throwing weapons either. I’me talking about when an explosion happens and a AR comes flying your way at a ridiculous speed. Its no different from when something random like a box comes flying your way and smashes you.
I’d rather not deal with possessions of dead enemies killing me. I think it would just be annoying and would not add to the game at all. Now if a player intentionally takes the time to drop a grenade or set a trap of some kind before their death, that’s fair, but getting lucky and having your weapon randomly kill someone with no skill input on your part would really take away from the game.

The same thing happens when a random object flies at you. These kind of things rarely happen out side of explosions, even then its rare as hell. You complain if an enemy weapon kills you but if a grenade blows a killer pylon at you its understandable? Its the same concept.
