I’ve had some weird things going on the last couple of weeks in WZ. I know someone could snip them from a distance but I didn’t see any shots coming in from anyone except teammates…Maybe I’m missing something.
Here’s a clip of a shot coming from nowhere killing me. No one is behind me, the shot comes from the abyss on Stormbreak…Shot in the back.
Hello BD. I was unable to play any of the clips. Clicking on the link takes me to a player, but the clips do not play.

Hello back… They work OKay for me, I just tried them.
You realize you can go into theater and freeze-frame the video, right? Just pause it when you die and whoever killed you just switch to their camera.
I’ve had it happen before getting sniped and a bullet trail not be visible, even in Arena. Usually it’s due to the minor delay of someone peeking a wall. On their screen they hit you but on yours they may have just barely clipped the wall in front of them, hence no visible trail on your end. It’s based on interpretation from the servers and time induced latency can cause minor visual differences that don’t exactly impact gameplay.

For some reason the video url got changed. I re-linked the one where I was shot in the back. I had Norfang with overshield and advanced sensor’s turn on, there’s nothing behind me as you can see on the radar. The homebase door is 10ft. behind me and the shot comes from the left where there’s nothing but the abyss.

I watched it. Looked like you got killed by a Beam Rifle…from somewhere around mid-map and outside at the top of the stairs. You should’ve switched to that guys POV because it just looks like a typical death.
So this is the clip where you enlisted my help. I knew there was an discrepancy with the URLs between the link you provided earlier and the one I dug up just now.

You’ll see icons to share the capture to Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, and through e-mail. But beside the envelope icon, is a grey icon with a small chainlink. Click on that and you’ll be provided the capture’s URL from the Content Browser, already highlighted to be copied. Simply use copy-and-paste (Crtl + C) and you’re ready to share it.

I don’t know what’s up with content browser. I click on the chain link which should copy it, but doesn’t. I have to right click on the video screen itself to copy the video url. I get a different address each day I do it. It seems as if it’s being moved around on the server giving it a new address each day. Works fine for me when I click on the link here on waypoint but doesn’t seem to work for anyone else.
So what’s your opinion on the kill? Co2 says it looks like it comes from the stairs in front of me. I freeze it when the shot starts and it looks like it comes from behind me to the left out of nowhere.

Looks like you got beam-rifled from middle-right somewhere.

I think you should go back into that game in Theater, jump to that timeframe where you got killed, and trace the shot back to the shooter. In all honesty, I don’t think anyone would have the patience (in Active Camo) to sneak up behind you can pop your head off. And if it really did come from behind, the gunshot would’ve been much louder and distinctive.
In short, you didn’t get shot from behind. Someone must’ve quick-scoped you from the left side of the Fortress (and that the flaming aura while holding Nornfang makes you stick out like a sore thumb).

You hit the nail on the head, exactly… Sniper/Beam rifle got me. Shot from right where you said. What threw me was when I looked at it the shot seemed to be from behind. I guess it went right through me.

It’s understandable. Sometimes sniper/beam trails don’t load properly based on differing POVs visually but the server handles hit detection with lag compensation. sometimes you may not even see a trail or they may even hit walls in front of you or them but still connect when you were “clearly behind a wall.”
Also there’s been a few, albeit extremely rare, times that I’ve seen a sniper/beam trail materialize closer to me first and then see it follow to it’s point of origin. That may be due to the system load causing the rendering of the trail to start closer to you and work it’s way back. Think of how graphics can “pop” in or out the further they are away, as they have lower visual priority.
