In the “Your Spartan” topic I mentioned that I like to think of my spartan as a researcher since the UNSC seems to be completely lacking in Scientists. Everyone they do show who does any “science” type stuff clearly doesn’t have a military background. Someone said “Vale is a scientist” and no she is a historian at best, she is a xeno-cultural researcher who is incorrectly labeled an anthropologist; and even if she did get a traditional Anthro degree it’s a BA not a BS. She studied and is an expert in Sangheili history/culture not humanity.
I mean even in the non-human aliens it seems like any one who does show any amount of mild science minded attitude is against most of the people they work with; Halsey and the Librarian being great examples.
Like the Forerunners battle plan with the Flood/humans; well we found humanity was correctly preemptively culling areas to prevent the further spread of the flood, even our greatest scientist the Librarian agreed it was a good plan. SO WIPE OUT HUMANITIES MILITARY AND ENGAGE IN DIRECT CONFLICT WITH THE FLOOD! Then there other plan (the Halo rings), was pretty much completely created by the Builders…you know the part of Forerunner society in-charge of political things and construction.
Also where does Halsey find the time to be humanities greatest expert in power armors, human genetic augmentation, slipspace drives, and the foremost expert on Forerunner technology? Most people are experts in a field or a few related fields…
