The audio Quality of the music and the general effects sound strangely bad…
The speech sounds clean and crisp, but everything else just sounds low-fi.
So is this just me or what?

Im also getting a strange Audio buzz/almost like a “little fart” sound in the menu everytime I move the selector in the menu…
Audio everywhere else is perfectly fine.
I play with headphones on so i can hear every little thing in the game and the audio is just terrible during the cut scenes and so is the music but like you said the voice tracks are crisp and clean. Its strange that the would release the game this way.
I noticed the same thing. I got a nice pair of headphones, so I usually enjoy listening to all the details, but the background audio in the cutscenes sounded pretty lo-fi. I wonder why they did that?
I noticed this as well.
OUTDATED
ive noticed some of the sound fx dont seem quite right like in one of them where (trying to hint on a spoiler) something impacts on a wall, it just doesnt sound like i thought it should O.o just things like that
Yeah I thought something was wrong with my headset at first because the audio was so bad, but when the cutscene ended and I started playing it was excellent again. I really hope this is something they can fix with a patch…
to reply to the OP. yeah it is. i kept wondering if something was wrong with my speakers so i put on my head headphones… same issue. high quality voice over. all other audio is compressed badly it sounds like.
I have noticed the same thing, it sounds very… Crunchy. The audio in game and the voice audio is absolutely fine.
Yes, audio quality for the music is terrible. Besides, here in Brazil we’re getting only the portuguese version! We don’t have the original english audio, which is something to grieve for.
I’m hearing the same thing. How can we get this noticed by the company so it’s fixed? Bungie certainly would not have let this happen.
Even through my regular TV speakers I can definitely hear this issue as well…seems pretty silly honestly and I would hope there’s an easy fix.
noticed the same thing… unfortunately this is not fixable unless they added a routine which allows the override of audio which I highly doubt.
I also noticed some weird effects when you’re trying to destroy those shield generators… you hit it and all you hear is a light thump. No megusta… other than that, epic game
Maybe its something to do with the disks, theres no way they would have let it out like that, maybe ours are damaged or defective?
I have the same problem and it’s killing me, because I’m a Halo music junkie. I payed 70€ for the Special Edition Soundtrack and now I can’t even hear it in the game!! This issue has already been reported by myself and many others in the Issues Being Investigated thread, and they said they were looking into it, but I think this is such a major flaw in the game that this discussion should be kept alive. Please, people, post your concerns in the Issues Being Investigated thread. We must make it clear that this is a huge problem that is happening to a LOT of people. The more of us report this problem in that thread, the better the chances that it’ll actually get fixed.
Five years from now nobody will care about the DMR being overpowered, but if the campaign still suffers from bad sound quality in cutscenes… THAT is something that we’ll care about every time we replay this game. And I dunno about you guys, but I plan to play through this game countless times in the years to come. That’s what I’ve done with all the Halos so far.
Seems like there wont be a fix for this anytime soon,…
Same here. It’s weird that the only good quality sound effects were the dialogue.
May be a manufacturing problem, cant think of any other way this could happen.
Halo 4 issue: lack of atmosphere
But I’m not complaining. I’ve done some things in cutscenes recently that really jogs up my nostalgia meter.
