Strafing With Hitscan Aim

With thruster gone, this is the first Halo with balanced starts and hitscan aim and strafing since halo 2. Player base movement without sprint seems faster too. How do yall think this will work out? Do yall miss the skill of projectile aim or prefer the balance of hitscan? Know there was a post about hitscan a little below but wanted to make a more specific one.

Projectiles take more skill. They should bring it back projectiles. This is a step backwards compared to the quality of even bad modern shooters.

I agree. Halo 4 and 5 were both hitscan. Bring back projectile.

Reach is effectively hitscan as well.

Yeah but had bloom as well. (DMR did din’t remember what else did)

Well, nothing was less skillful than BR spread in Halo 3, but it doesn’t matter. they should up their game and give projectiles a real shot.

given how borked all past halos projectile systems were implemented (given the existence of severe aim assist and magnetism (strong in all games but still varied with h5 being the worst)) I dont really miss it.

If its closer to Halo 2 i love if its closer to Halo 3… slugfest im not a Fan :smiley:

Seems tho we go closer to Halo 2, which is also Projectile but quite fast, dont know why they -Yoinked!- up Halo 3 so hard.

I don’t think it’s a step backwards. Almost every Halo game has hitscan weapons as a decent chunk of the sandbox.

I believe that every Halo game has projectile bullets technically, but in the later games especially the bullet velocity has been so fast that they are effectively acting like hitscan bullets. Halo 3 is the only game that I recall where the bullet velocity was low enough to where the projectile nature of the bullets was noticeable in a meaningful way. The bullet trajectory system looks similar to Halo 2 or COD Modern Warfare 2019, where technically every bullet is a physical projectile but it’s tuned so that the vast majority of engagements it will feel like hitscan.

We dont know that. Also idk about 5 but every halo game has projectile weapons no hitscan weapon. But in some games it’s projectile speed is so high that it somewhat emulates hitscan while still firing a true projectile
