I know im not the best player in the game for sure, but i do know that in most cases i will win in a strafing dmr medium range battle.
That said, every now and then, i face off against some crazy good dude that just destroys me. It feels like he’s able to strafe faster than physically possible. is there a trick i just dont know about it? Does it involve controller sensitivity? Any help would be appreciated.
Strafing is not that effective in Reach for a number of reasons like:
-strafe acceleration
-high bullet magnetism
-large reticles
But traditional strafing is a mix between short strafes, long strafes, crouches, jumps, and ghandi hops. Put all those things together and still be able to land shots on your enemy and you’ll be on the path to skilled gameplay in no time.
Well like i said it worked pretty well for me in most instances (halo 3 was way easier i think). But there seems to be some sort of glitch to strafe really fast, because i know i cant go any faster. And theyre not even doing all those bobs and jumps
I certain maps, set up a fire cuz in some cases, your gonna have to camp out.

Halo 3 did not have strafe inertia (commonly called “acceleration”), but Reach did. Basically, instead of being able to “snap” to a new direction, you now move more smoothly – and more predictably.
This is relevent to my interests…
I don’t consider myself a terrible strafer, but I’m not great either. I generally only win DMR fights because I’m a good shot and always position myself so that I can drop down or run away if I start losing. :l
I assume you mean this strafe? (halo 3 but still the same strafe) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I56zwYXLNsM
If so I believe its called a break strafe… most people will simply tell you its lag. I think the way you do it is move your stick left to right without touching the edges… sounds simple but doing it is another thing.
