Strafing: Is it too sluggish for new combat?

Hi! I’m sure most of you have enjoyed most of what the recent update has given this week. Faster-paced combat, warthogs being a little useful than last week, and the Carbine and Battle Rifles being a beast in Mid-range combat again.

However, I feel that when strafing, I feel to slow to move about. In Halo 3, we strafed slower, but that is also due to all guns having bullet travel(or ballistic physics, or whatever you want to call it), instead of hitscan like the other Halos did.

We don’t here. With the new speed, I feel like the strafing doesn’t react well enough to dodge bullets and felt like I am being a sitting duck for longer than I should.

Do you think changing directions should be faster now that combat is faster like in Halo 2? Take note that I am not talking about changing directions mid-jump. I am fine with that part.

I use the boost thing on my armor that helps me dodge, alot. But yeah strafing feels pointless now, I feel like changing it may help.

That might just be bullet magnetism. Other than full autos, I don’t remember hearing anything about it being reduced on the precision weapons (especially the dmr!). The 110% movement speed should have made strafing faster than it was before, but if you seem to be getting hit every time you strafe, it’s either a really good player who can aim, or magnetism doing the work for that player. Again, other than full auto weapons, I don’t think any magnetism on the precision weapons was addressed. It should be though.

YES, it still feels useless, too much magnetism + strafe acceleration?(idk) = voila, pointless movement -__-

All the halo strafes

I still think Halo 2 had the best strafe. As much magnetism that game had you could still outclass another player by strafing correctly

YES! Halo 2 strafe FTW!!!

With faster kill times, faster gameplay, and basically Halo 2 BRs, having a little bit faster Halo Reach strafing isn’t going to do that good overall. The 10% movement speed boost helped the strafes, but I think a TU may be needed to change the strafing.

It’s not as terrible as people make it sound, but I do believe that it does need some looking at.

wouldnt matter how much you changed strafing. people are able to magically follow everything with 10 sensitivity. everybody but i can do it. disabled people have no chance :L

Actually, it will help. I did some tests in H2 Vista…

H2 Legendary Elites with their freaking aimbots CAN miss if you increase the movement acceleration by a mere increment of 4. Course you still have to be smart about your movement patterns.

On the other hand, when I gave the Elites BRs, they destroyed me, but that’s cuz lack of spread, their AI is god, and they were double teaming me.

Movement speed increase might help but not in the long run.

They increased the movement speed to 110% of the normal speed to allow for better strafing. While it isn’t perfect, any further increase to the movement speed leads to a feeling of ice skating and it makes it more difficult to stop on a dime and switch directions. I think this is an issue of the in game physics and there isn’t any way for the current staff to address it for Halo 4.

110% movement is stupid when coupled with sprint, but other thsn that I’m warming up to it.
