Strafe needs momentum added

Aiming is terrible enough in this game, but I can’t stress enough how nonexistent momentum and inertia is in this game. Everything is floaty, including the strafing. The only good thing about it is spotting cheaters. Ain’t no way I’m popping around a corner and you’re already shooting me with such perfect precision more than five times.

I’m on the fence honestly.

Some games need this, other games work well without it.

I can see how it’ll work well in Infinite, but I also recognize that there’s plenty of exits, mechanic techniques and paths that can be utilized instead of a momentum mechanic.

This is Halo, all other Halos had it. And infinite needs it since 343 wants this to be the quintessential Halo they are trying oh so bad.

Just because the other Halo titles had it doesn’t mean that all of them need it though.

This game has sprint by default when all classic Halos didn’t have it as a default mechanic. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t belong, it just fits.

Games evolve, I would like to see a momentum mechanic tested in some fashion, but I also see that it’s not necessarily needed.

This not an evolution, it’s a regression. It was a feature that was in Halo during it’s peak days in MLG. Let’s not pretend it wasn’t an important aspect in it’s gameplay. Especially with again, how bad the aiming in this game can be.

Yeah we need inertia back, strafe acceleration is WAY too high - coupled with latency issues, you get some really wacky-moving people.

Games do not evolve to excuse gameplay balancing.

As it is now, even pros do agree that Strafe speed is pretty fast, way faster than any other Halo.
And Halo Infinite’s movement isn’t even that much more drastically evolved to warrant this. Halo 5’s movement was drastically evolved, but it didn’t have this much strafe speed especially when strafing left and right.

In order to smoothen out gameplay experience, strafe inertia needs to be put back into the game. The last time strafe inertia wasn’t a thing was Halo CE.
Halo CE has people skating all over the place and it also didn’t have reticule bloom so people just left right spammed while 3 shotting people with the Magnum.

I just saw a topic the other day that wanted less strafing momentum and acceleration. :joy:

I think it’s good where it’s at. Halo has always been “floaty.”

Jumping, has been floaty, not strafing and certainly not vehicles. The grenades this time around bounce around too much as well.

I’m with you on the grenades and vehicles. Strafing? I think it’s perfect. Not too much twitchy side to side and not to slow.

I dont think they added it in this one because of the way the grapplehook works. theres no teamkilling and the ghost can shoot through its turbo boosts.

Then they need to fix aim assist even more because it most certainly is to twitchy and with the addition of crouching It destroys whatever aim assist is actually in effect at the time.

I also think that the strafing is fine and the gravity/physics setting need a bit of tweaking regarding grenade and vehicle behavior.

Yup Halo 5 feels azing because it actually feels like Halo when jumping around. They removed everything momentum based. Super floaty. Super ice skatey.
Not fun at all. A lot of my plays are gone now because I can’t move they way I used to move

That’s one of my biggest issues with all the 343 games. The fun physics are gone.
