If there’s one thing i love more than Cortana it’s blue team.
I F******* LOVE BLUE TEAM!!! THANK YOU FOR THAT 343i :’). One thing that got me so hyped was hearing kelly, linda, and fred all just interacting during battle and making call outs along with the track titled “blue team.” Boy did that just give me the Marty O’Donnell goosebumps. I’m sorry, i loved cortana, but i would take blue team any day instead
Unfortunately the rest of the soundtrack didnt really have that many moments. They actually made the main theme bad. Not the opening menu music which gave us all the nostalgia we’ve wanted in a halo. But the progressive theme. Just terrible.
And for the now the last complaint is that i only get to play as blue team in 3 missions… WTH 343i?! You give us greatness to take it away??? While playing through thr campaign you dont really notice because i guess you’re so tense sometimes with the level design (which is probably the best level desing I’ve seen since i think CE) and playing this hunt. My reaction to seeing Chief and Locke duke it out was nothing but just… if i can quote “Ohhhh s***!!!” Although Every mission i played as Locke i wanted to get by fast just to be chief. It could’ve been better. I couldn’t get so connected to them as i did blue team but i still liked Locke. Mainly becauae of this. SPOILER INCOMING
Locke wants the best for humanity. And you really feel that when you see him approach Chief and he takes a real diplomatic approach. “Sir this is your chance to come home peacefully” or “chief stop, we can help.” He was just a likeable character to me especially when Cortana tries to put him down. “You are mere shadows of my spartans mister Locke.” Oh is that right? Rescues blue team!!! That struggle at the end really just gave me that reason to like them. Although “you’re not taking the chief!” Is a cheesey line, the end struggle had me just crazy and loving Osiris. I’d never thought I’d like anyone besides Buck. But Locke is awesome. Not better than blue team though. Oh not to mention, The monitor that helps you on your journey throughout Genesis. Exuberant. I just find this AI funny and helpful. And the Forerunner story made sense to me. But thanks to 343i, when i play the older halo’s. I’ll never look at the same again lmao. Thanks 343iIn closing
343i the gameplay was spectacular and this game could be ththe perfect halo I’ve been waiting for. But it just misses because of the 3 missions of Chief and the lack of connection with Osiris.
But this isnt including the near perfecr multiplayer. Which like 9.9/10.
My 2 issues with the story was that, A) A lot of the story is told through in-game dialogue. Which is fine when there is nothing going one and you’re just walking from one area to the next. But it often happens during combat and you never really pay attention to it because you’re trying to shoot that Warden -Yoink-. And B) The characters were simply not given enough time to develop. While Osiris have their moments, They never really get much of a personality put to them, Except from Buck. And Blue Team don’t get much of an introduction, They just show up and that’s that.
These issues can still be fixed. Adding a patch that lowers the games volume when a character is speaking shouldn’t be out of the question and putting the first few episodes of Halo: Fall of Reach into the game would help things.
Apart from that, I did enjoy Halo 5’s Campaign. And I am looking forward to the next installment of the Reclaimer Saga.
People reaction to the plot twist in halo 5s story makes me wonder on what would happen if Star Wars V released today.
“What? Darth Vader is Luke’s father?!? What total -Yoink-!! They ruined the chance to create an entire -Yoinking!- franchise with this one scene alone. -Yoink- you Lucasarts.”
you know that would be the comments if Star Wars released today. I know you know.

That’s a terrible comparison. That scene was actually excellent writing. Much of this game is not.
On a different note, the plot twist should have just been sprung on you while you were playing. The bad guy should have remained mysterious throughout the game until the reveal. There was no “wow!” turning point. It wasn’t a surprise like it should have been, and was, when Vader told Luke he was his father.

That was twist because we knew nothing about his parents except a few lines of dialogue and the story setup how bad Vader was.
This “twist” is weird because for 4 games the story setup
how Cornata fights along humans and with little explanation she now is the standard nutty AI with too much control.

Agreed. Its blue team, they deserve better. And yea osiris was hard to understand. They kind threw them at you, but all in all they were pretty bad -Yoink- and cool. Tonka has a one liner in a cutscene that was just terrible and it made me hate her a little
It wasn’t bad, Halo 4 had a bad story, Halo 5 has twists stolen from better stories thrown together in the mist half -Yoinked!- package imaginable complete with unlikeable characters (sans Buck) barely any MC, and so on.
They truly outdid themselves in the field if terrible writing.
I was as excited as you to see Blue Team…until I played the game. They are terribly underutilized. You can remove them entirely from the game and nothing would change. Horrible character use.

I get you. And to a degree i agree. But did master chief ever get a proper intro? When you started CE you didnt have much to go by to care about the chief or who he was. So in a way they used blue team, the halo way. Although they shouldve done something more for Osiris. Blue team you meed to read about and maybe watch the fall of reach.

I agree with this, I was also very excited until I saw that no time or space was left for any character development. What happened to the rest of Blue being worried about the chief’s mental state at the beginning? And I dislike that you have to go outside of the game to get the jist of who they are as characters. I’ve read all the books, but for someone who hasn’t, what was portrayed would not lead them to care about Blue Team at all.

Shouldn’t be surprised, Frankie recently said that he doesn’t believe that anyone on Blue Team has a strong personality, so it isn’t a surprise they didn’t try that much.

Yea frank is lost than. Honestly they arent big personalities, but they are strong in the story. Just because they dont show colors like Osiris doesnt make them strong. It would be not halo if they were talking all day about something that didnt have to do with battle. I liked the back and forth banter about where they were, or who they are fighting and why, and how to fight. Always something to do with the matter at hand. They show how connected they are to the chief when they follow him to the end. Its not expressed but its there. And thats how i think they shouldve been presented.
