Why do i feel like i missed an entire game between halo 4 and halo 5 guardians. Things dont pick up at all where they left off. I know im late but damn
All events leading up to Halo 5: Guardians are addressed in other media, primarily the Halo: Escalation comic book series.
A lot of it was in Halo 4 Spartan Ops.

Because you did, although it’s not a game. The didact was killed off in a comic book.

I know that to be true but it’s always funny to hear it phrased like that

This was my biggest issue with H5.
Others have commented to where you can find the info.
I hope they don’t make this same mistake for Infinite.

Agreed. H5 forced me to dig deeper into the extended lore and so forth which I thoroughly enjoyed doing, but it’s not good that the game itself does not have a story that can be understood without all the outside material. That is especially true for fans who don’t care about outside material and only care about the games.
Halo 5’s issue wasn’t so much that there was a game missing for it to be understood, but rather the complete left turn it took in its narrative. Delving into the EU in the hopes of finding answers will more often than not leave you just as confused as before. Two notable exceptions are the conclusion to the Janus Key and the reuniting with Blue team. Aside from that, it’s unnecessary (unless you’re simply interested in learning more of Halo’s expanded lore).
