The storm rifle looks useless to me, it seems to be much like a sort of SMG if you want my opinion, high rate of fire, depletes shields for the melee beat down, but most of the guns in the e3 demo (im basing this of what we have) seems to be long range countering the weapon before it could reach its effective range, and the gun had a terrible amount of time before it overheated, the Storm Rifle only takes id say about 4-6 seconds to overheat, and this makes it terrible against multiple foes, and this could ruin a good reason to use the weapon, which i thought would be rushing and being near the spawn.
This weapon should be used to make pushes in close range areas and corridors, depleting shields so teammates can finish them and you csn get the kills too. But to me this gun in a close area will be destroyed by the Battle Rifle and the Covenant Carbine as there accuracy and range capability allow them not only to get multiple shot off, but to keep there distance and use cover further away from the enemy making the Storm Rifle even worse, the only purpose that i see is countering hardlight shield, and even most people won’t use that in there games.
To me, it seems like the Storm Rifle was doing a lot of damage in close range.
It’s a weapon that acts nearly identical to the CE-AR, except it overheats instead of runs out of ammo.
Fear the SHREDDER!
I thought it looked like it melted people up close, which according to 343 is its purpose.
343i said that it’s a little more powerful then the Plasma Repeater from Halo: Reach which is a good thing.
hardlight shields(HLS)if used properly could and will be game breakers. i agree lots wont use it but my squad and i will use it. example for good HLS use would be to provide moving cover for a teammate.

Ummm… what?
This thread is about the Storm Rifle. If you would like to discuss the Hardlight Shield you can go find a different, more related topic. If you can’t find any, make a thread. Just try to contribute to others first.

Or have all 8 of your teammates including you to just spawn a HLS right next to each other to make a type of shield wall to block bullets and grenades lol.

Sorry for going off topic there but I think the SR will act similar to the PR from HR.
Don’t know what gameplay you were watching. It looked like it was pretty powerful to me.
It appears to be a beautiful weapon for CQC.
Looks great for close/close-mid range. Good riddance to PR in Reach.

Now you’re just being quite silly here. He did directly contribute to this thread. You just didn’t stop to think. He’s saying, If a player spawns with the SR, and HLS, you can be nearly impossible to kill from long-range while you move to cover/indoors. Then when you have the SR in its optimum range, you can shred players. He is saying that the two complement eachother, and that the SR has its uses.

This.
There are plenty of instances where the Storm Rifle was being used and it seemed quite powerful. Not only that, the spread of the gun isn’t as crazy as the Plasma Repeater. Which means more consistent hits from what i’ve seen.
It overheats pretty damn fast however, i do like that there is an indicator on the gun that shows heat levels.
I did mistake it being similar in shape to the Covenant Carbine and to be honest, it still kind of does
It looked absolutely DEADLY at close range!
Only thing i saw was how fast it overheats. If you miss any shots there is a really good chance that it will overheat before you can finish the person off which is annoying at best. Same problem with Plasma Repeater, random scatter of shots plus low damage per shot led to a useless weapon that would “overheat” (shots actually slowed to a crawl, requiring venting) before killing the target. Two of those issues were addressed but it seems overheat time was decreased as a poor attempt at balance I think.

That would be leaning towards careful aiming then and by extension, skill. If you miss most of your shots, you should be rewarded with overheat and possibly death. If you land all your shots, you get the kill.
I don’t see anything wrong with that.
I just hope 343 doesn’t nerf the Storm Rifle to Plasma Repeater levels. Some part of me thinks they will though
I am cynic like that when it comes to good things being a bit too good to be true.

Give more ideas for my loadouts please.
I am just hoping they don’t Nerf it like bungie did with the plasma weapons in more recent halos
when you start out with some thing good there’s no reason to dilute it to the point it has no use anymore

Never do anything for free that you’re good at. Jks. Im not sure that you’re serious, or if it was some sort of mysterious insult.
