Storm Rifle tips?

I just need a little help getting past the deadly barrage of an entire enemy team firing at once at me with their 4-shot BRs. I usually can’t do much, and as a result, end up quitting and playing something else. The only thing is, usually when I get into range in a 1v1 situation, the BR user will lose to my Storm Rifle.

In summary: Does anyone know how to use a Storm Rifle effectively against a team of BRs?

Oh, yeah, and my Microsoft Account messed up my Gamertag and Xbox Live. I have a different GT that I want to use and is the right one.

1vs4? No chance.
But if you somehow manage to get them to fight you one at a time, then you can beat them. Maybe trick them with holograms and frags or pulse grenades as door barricades?

You pretty much answered your own question…never go against a whole team anyway, unless you have rockets and that’s even a little sketchy. 1v1 is where you’ll rule. Stick with a teammate and try and clean up the kills. Pulse grenades work well in close quarters to strip down shields and finsih off with the SR.

The main thing…stop taking on the whole team or even more than one and you’ll do much better.

An automatic weapon will never be as useful as a precision weapon anyway for this reason. You can’t effectively team-shoot when you’re using an automatic.

OT, keep in mind that the Storm Rifle’s bullets are projectiles and not hitscan like the AR, which means you need to lead slightly.

Ah excellent excellent. So you wish to know how to get into effective range consistently without taking any prior shots. Well I highly recommend the sensor, the sensor will alert you to targets before they are aware of your position, and you can begin sneaking towards them for a good ambush. Also it helps you be more aware of additional enemies that could shoot you, and avoid having this happen.

Learn exactly where on your sensor radar you first appear on the edge of their radar. Right at this point charge at them and leap through the air and start firing.

Negatory. I like the SR.

Besides, the OP already answered his own question: use it when it is appropriate to use it, and not otherwise.

It’s actually pretty good weapon

Don’t concern yourself with this, as the storm rifle’s projectiles travel quite fast and if you were to be far away enough that leading would be a factor, you would immediately know you are way to far away to be using the storm rifle.

I would never use an SR in that setting.

If I am guarding a point like in CTF, maybe, or in a FFA game where I can get clean-up kills.

even 2v1 against BR’s that are coordinated gives you juuust about enough time to figure out where one of them is and start to pull the trigger before you die.

My tip is to only use it in rumble pit…or as a secondary along with firepower for other gametypes.

You know it’s not beneficial when you play a team based gametype, where your team really tries to make the match, while you hang around with your SR.
It’s your decision which weapon to use, and the SR is indeed effective in certain situations…but as a whole your team will suffer more than benefit from it.
Anyways just saying, if you really want to use it…use it.

Thank you all for you opinions. You are correct that I didn’t notice that I had answered my own question, but you weren’t little poo-poos about it, like I thought would happen as soon as I posted this topic.

Anyway, I can get a few good games with the Storm Rifle and it’s not always a problem. I will always try to get good games with it - because it’s just a cool gun with cool mechanics. And yes, I do know that it isn’t hitscan.

Just played a few games. Had very mixed results, however. The idea of constant spam of four-shot, any range, two shot melee power against a gun that isn’t hitscan makes for some very frustrating and rage-inducing moments. Raging causes fellow people in the home to get annoyed, though, so I have to keep in down.

But there are also the games where you get a treat with a little killing frenzy.

1- Unless you can take all 4 people down faster than they can turn around and take you down, don’t fight. Get to your friends and stay with them.

2- SRs have a less effective range than the AR, but has more damage potential. You will need to be a little closer to get the shots to connect just as fast as the AR would. Otherwise, the BR is going win.

3- Play defensively. Use cover. Protect power weapon/up areas like Adrift’s Overshield spawn. Let them go to you if you can get them to do so.

4- HLS can allow your gun to cool down, which resets your reticule and offer some protection. Try that.

That’s about all I can think of.

Most of the slayer matches where I use Storm rifle, I end up as one of the top three players in points or the kills.
Not sure what I am doing right with it, but there has been lucky times when I have been against three players at once and still won. Perhaps (most likely) because they have missed and I got the upper hand.
So another tip would be to do some crouches and small movements? Hoping that they are not reacting fast enough.

1 vs 4 with any weapon you are going to lose. Even if they have plasma pistols. SR is terrible in my opinion for most game types. I’d use it for Haven or Abandon King of the Hill though because of tight quarters and its high firing velocity. But other than that, if you are accurate with the Battle Rifle, it is the best weapon for mid-range.

just hope to god that they’re awful shots. try throwing a frag in the middle to destroy all their shields and then shoot in bursts because covenant weapons like that like to overheat really easily.
