This little used weapon is ridiculous. The overall power of this weapon isn’t that nominal, the rate of fire and range is. After a little playing around, it has boasted to be way more effective than the assault rifle or the suppressor in every situation I’ve been in. If you’ve gone up against it, you know what I’m talking about.
The boltshot overshadowed it’s popularity but with the recent fix, this weapon has definitely shown it’s ugly purple face. If you’ve got testimonials, feel free to share, I want to know what others are thinking about it.
I disagree. It’s spread at range is horrible, and the assault rifle beats it almost every time at medium to fairly close range. I use the storm rifle in the Majestic play list and would consider myself fairly decent with it, but it’s not as overpowered as you’re saying.
I’m not sure what 2/10 means, but anywhom, I ran a couple of 1v1’s against a player I know that is in a lower skill tier than I, he ran storm rifle, while I toted the BR or Assault. On a mid to short range skill his gun always came out on top. In fact he admitted to feeling as though the gun was over powered in most situations he’s been in. Boasting that it’s a little known secret, gaining popularity due to lesser use of the boltshot. I’m just wondering if anyone else has anything on the matter as well.
Maybe he isn’t on a lower tier than you then? If you were using the BR and he was beating you out with the storm rifle, then you’re doing it wrong (Especially if this was at range). Comparing the use of the storm rifle to the boltshot is ridiculous, they’re not even the same class of weapon.

Are you serious?
The Storm is SUPPOSED to beat the BR at short range. If you are constantly getting killed with it at mid range, then you seriously need to re-think your playing skills or lack there of.
It simply fits nicely between both the suppressor and the AR. The Suppressor still has a faster killtime but the least versatile, while the AR is the most versatile with the least DPS.
The auto weapons are fine(they could use faster bloom retraction to better reward burst fire), they actually have better killtimes than all the precision weapon sans the DMR and the scoped LR. Even then the Suppressor still has a faster minimum killtime.
If you are worried about how it is balanced with the BR or Carbine, it is unbalanced, because the BR and Carbine are crap(though the Carbine is very close to not being crap).

PLuss it has a slightly higher killtime then the AR

Take it into matchmaking and use it, you will see exactly what I’m talking about. I’m not boasting to be the best player out there, but I’m far better than the person I was playing, skill is not an issue.
The AR is better at mid range, the Supressor is better at close range, and the storm rifle is the middle ground. It makes sense if it’s getting used a lot more since majestic, since it is probably the best rapid fire weapon for the new small maps, but it isn’t overpowered.

I have used it in matchmaking.
It has less range than the AR and does exactly what you expect it to, it kills fast at close range and sucks everywhere else.

The AR does have better range but the Storm rifle has a faster kill time. Infact as you go Human To forerunner for automatic you can see it starts with good range and descant damage, but the further you go down the Kill time is increased while the spread is grown.

and the pulse my favorite Grenade
Im close range Assist
If I get shot at at range cover is my first priority
if I get attacking at mid I go around a corner spawn my Auto and turn the battle.

It is and I love it
I hate using range simply because I dont get a man v man. Often you win range with who shoots first. But me, nah, I wana see his helmet and watch as he falls… then his buddy comes in and I die.
