Warzone, Fortnite, Apex Legends…
All have much better value in their store than Halo and they don’t have a separate campaign that they can gain revenue from. They also let you gain ingame currency to spend in the store, Halo doesn’t even have that. This is hands-down, one of the worst f2p models ever. Like you said, they are a billion dollar company, they aren’t short of money, they are just trying to milk people. And obviously it backfired
Dude, them wanting more money has nothing to do with their employees, the employees make the same amount of money no matter the profit, all the excess simply goes to the higher ups.
I find that hard to believe seeing that there’s a bunch of people complaining that they had to pay $60 for the campaign.
Bungie charged for campaign+MP
The value was much higher though, there’s a difference. If they were charging the same price now, for Infinite map packs those maps packs were but instead you only get 1 map, you’d be completely fine with that?
You realize by this logic 343i shouldn’t do anything right? Would you use that argument for anything else?
If they make the same amount of profit no matter what they do it means they should do nothing lol. Logic 101 there.
Define “a bunch”. The people you see on Reddit/Waypoint/Twitter are a small sample size. Now because nobody has entirely accurate data besides MS themseles its all speculation… I’m just saying that I didn’t bother buying the Campaign and I’m a fan, so I would be surprised if a substantial number of people actually purchased it.
You make this point later on about value… Why pay $60 for something, when instead you could pay $1 for it? Just seems ilke people being dumb with their monies to me.
Map Packs were a horrible idea, they worked only because Halo 3 was so massive. Once we got to Reach/4 it became apparent that it was very difficult to find other players with the same maps as you so you rarely ever got to play on any of the maps, and besides Forge kind of made map packs worthless in itself because why bother paying $20 for 3 or 4 maps when you could just make them all in Forge?
Using your same logic against you again, map packs were far worse value.
To be mute. More money means nothing to the employees, it all goes to the higher ups
With that logic we can’t say anything about the game. Doesn’t matter if everyone on the internet is mad about the game, it is just a “small sample size”.
Totally agree but are you really surprised in today’s world? Especially since most of the game’s playerbase lives in America…
You talk about small sample sizes yet use your choosing not to buy the campaign as proof that not that many people might not have bought the campaign? Lol
It isn’t the same value, lol, You completely ignored the post. Whether many people got them or not, it doesn’t change the fact that the value for them was much better than the stuff in Infinite
If 200,000 players buy a 1 euro micro. That’s 200,000 euro. If it’s 3 euro, that’s 600,000 euro earned. If the micro is 20 euro and 5k buy. That’s 100,000 euro. I doubt that any more than 5k would buy the 20 euro micro. Id say that 1.5k would buy the 20 euro micro.
1 - 3 euro for single helmet micro’s is the best way to go as people won’t think about the transaction as much and it is an easy purchase.
I wasn’t saying to make everything 1 - 3 euro. I was talking about individual item’s. The max should be 10 euro. I and many other will never see a 15 or 20 euro “micro” as a fair deal
The game.otaelf shows they were not very knowledgeable on how to run the economy of. F2P game, and.how to to promote customer returns…
Fortnite perfected it to a degree… they rested a store that offers cosmetics, those cosmetics are offered in bundles but you can buy the items as a single item at a lower total price if all you want is that one item.
So Ayers perhaps buy 1-6 items in the store outside of bundles which by volume generates more sales.
But 343 went in most likely knowing players won’t like everything that comes in the bundle like maybe they just wanted the shoulder peices in a 20 bucks bundle.
But rather than allow them choice to pick and chose and almost build their own customize shopping bundle, they force Ayers into a system that almost seems over ambitious of players money.
Hell early on I called it how it was and got some heat for it…
But I said 343 purposely made coatings specific to each core, blend specific to each Item, and locked Cross customization so they could re sell you the same stuff over and over and over, because they wanted to ration the content to last them for the whole 10 yr expected lifetime of the game…
Like maybe they do have all the content made for like the next 7 yrs but it will only last them that long if they did it this way.
Absolutely they would. However my point is that if its like 5% of the profit they were making before, it just means that they would have to either A) come up with new revenue streams (donation feature ) or B) which I find more likely is that they just stop wasting as much time and resources into the store in general.
I know this has been said a million times but now it’ll be said a million and One times… Infinite is a F2P game, it will not survive more than a few months (by survive I mean updates/support, not necessarily that it’ll be closed down lol) if the developers made zero profit off of it. Campaign probably made a small fraction of what it used to, they are basically putting all their hopes and dreams onto whales backs otherwise they’re better off just moving on to a new Halo game if the only thing they can ever turn a profit off of is Campaign.
You have no data to back up that they’d make 5%. For starters some of the skins have been in $5 bundles, so assuming they lowered the price and sales stayed the same they’d make 20%. That’s just simple math. But where it gets complicated is you will get more sales by pricing the item cheaper. So that 20% is the floor for how much you’d make. You’d also upset less people, which is good for the companies image, even if it doesn’t directly tie into sales.
What they should do is go down to DLC Packs, like in the old days.
Spartan III Armory Pack
This hypothetical pack would include the following for the Mark V Bravo Armor Core -
10 Armor Coatings
10 Helmets
5 Helmet Attachments
10 Visor Colors
10 Chest Pieces
10 Shoulder Armor Pieces
5 Wrist Attachments
5 Utility Attachments
2 Alt. Glove Designs
3 Knee Guard Designs
Spartan IV Armory Pack
This hypothetical pack would include the following for the Mark VII Armor Core -
10 Armor Coatings
10 Helmets
5 Helmet Attachments
10 Visor Colors
10 Chest Pieces
10 Shoulder Armor Pieces
5 Wrist Attachments
5 Utility Attachments
2 Alt. Glove Designs
3 Knee Guard Designs
Samurai Honor Guard Armory Pack
This hypothetical pack would include the following for the Yoroi Armor Core -
10 Armor Coatings
5 Helmets
5 Helmet Attachments
5 Visor Colors
5 Chest Pieces
5 Shoulder Armor Pieces
2 Wrist Attachments
2 Utility Attachments
1 Alt. Glove Design
2 Knee Guard Designs
You get the idea. Each Armor Core would have a DLC Pack that is attributed to it. Each pack valued at around $10-$15 respectively. With a base amount of cosmetics being available by default for unlock through gameplay and battle pass systems. Each pack you buy will give you cosmetics that you cannot unlock within regular gameplay.
So hypothetically, one would have to buy only 1 pack of the Fractures armor core cosmetics, while to complete the Mark V Bravo armor core, you would have to play the battle passes AND buy at least two of these packs in order to get all the content possible.
This gives the company guys that want money their money and we gamers get a fair trade of cosmetics in return.
Other packs would exist for around $5 each which would give us weapons cosmetics, Spartan Armor Coatings, vehicle cosmetics, Spartan ID cosmetics, and Assassinations (once those are added to the game proper)
That is how I propose to have the best and ideal shop system in Halo Infinite for our Spartans. And with the release of new armor cores, we would see more packs available in the Xbox and Steam stores. Such as -
Spartan II Armory Pack - which unlocks armor content for the Mark V Gen-1.
Red Team Armory Pack - which unlocks armor content for the Mark IV Gen-1.
Blue Team Armory Pack - which unlocks armor content for the Mark VI Gen-3.
Osiris Armory Pack - which unlocks armor content for the ONI Hunter Armor Core.
Helljumper Armory Pack - which unlocks armor content for the obligatory ODST Armor Core
Iron War Armory Pack - which unlocks armor for the Dieselpunk Fractures Armor Core.
Spartan Style Pack - which unlocks 10 Armor Coatings and 5 Visor Colors for $5.
Please try reading the context of the discussion and what I was replying to….it would really help not having to have these unnecessary posts. Once again, I never said they would or should reduce the prices to $1 and again I made that perfectly clear in my post.
This is irrelevant. Don’t know why you bring it up.
It is insanely relevant. Because they’re not trying to sell cars and are in doubt if they should sell one for 5000, 15000 or 30000. These are digital items that only needs to be created once and after that they can sell it 1 time or 250.000 times.
Assumptions. Its possible that it could result in the exact same numbers of sales, which would be a huge net negative profit wise (compared to what they would’ve made otherwise, obviously still makes some profit overall)
Again, its a store. Its meant to sell premium items. Its not meant to be a charity.
These are not assumptions. These are estimated guesses. There have been countless polls on how Halo players feel about the store. If they would buy more if prices were lower. If they would buy more if they could buy individual items. And all polls are YES and YES!
I personally haven’t bought a single 20 dollar bundle, because I don’t like the feeling of getting screwed over. If the prices of those 20 dollar bundles would have been 5 dollars, I would have probably bought 6 already. See where this is going? Right now 343 earned ZERO from me. If the prices were 5 dollars, they would have earned 30 from me. And this goes for a lot of players.
I’m going to talk about this point in another way. How valuable is something that 60% of the playerbase has? What’s the point of it if everybody has it? Imagine the cat ears phenomenon X 5. Why would a whale even bother buying anything knowing that its not really anything special?
These are assumptions. And who the f**k cares about whales and their precious feelings? The store is here for 343 to make $$$. And BECAUSE they are selling digital items and not physical items, they can be extremely flexible with their prices. They can sell a helmet for 1000 dollars and maybe one whale will buy it because he wants to feel like a precious snowflake. Or 343 can sell the same helmet for 10 cents and 200.000 players will buy it. What will make them more money?
I’m in favor of devs getting paid. That is all you really need to know about where I’m coming from.
No you don’t. You just said so. You only care about whales feeling special.
I expect a slight reduction in prices however to be able to make this purchase you’ll still have to spend the same on in-store credit.
Anyone making a purchase will be putting the same amount of money into the game. They’ll either have change left over that gets them nothing or will be forced to spend it on something else to get it used up.
If they sold every piece for $1 each I could easily buy the whole lot spending £100+ atm I refuse to buy anything due to the price.
Even if I love the item I’m not gonna spend a stupid amount on it. Even if you had to buy multiplayer you’re paying £60 so even at $1 each I only get 80 armor pieces at max… guess what there is far more than 80 pieces in the game, probably 200…
Why would I ever pay 3x plus the cost of what I’d normally get for the base price.
