"Stopping power" was it ever in matchmaking?

Under custom game settings there’s “stopping power”…

Which knocks you out of maximum sprint speed when taking fire…(preventing charge)
But in multiplayer it has no effect?

Someone running straight at you while you use an automatic…
They still charge, so nope.

Yeah I can just spray and meele…they die… but I’m still without shields.

Edit: I’m dumb.

No, it’s not a thing in MM. It’s an option for customs.

That’d be real annoying if it was in mp. It sounds like it would be like when you got shot in CS.

Not that dramatic.
The speed you run just before the speed lines appear.

If you need to run “20” to use charge, being hit drops you to like “15-18”

So it’s only useful when you hit them just a few steps from charging.

While the option is a physical one in custom games, I do believe some weapon REQ variants have Stopping Power included as an upgrade to the weapon.

Getting shot in Counter-Strike was brutal; the slowdown would screw you over.

This. The kinetic addition to weapons, as well as the knight blade, is where this “stopping power” OP mentions is introduced to MM. That would be the guns with the glowy orange things protruding off the tips (for those not as familiar with war zone), and are utilized mostly on Big Team maps.

Why does stopping power seem to kick in at random times in MM then? It’s like sometimes I’ll try to get away or start sprinting to try and get a cheeky Spartan Charge on someone really quick and SOMETIMES (not all) I’ll get hung up and can hardly move…

Very frustrating when you have absolutely no way to tell why something is or isn’t happening to you or other players, when you try to inflict the same outcome.

That’s not Stopping Power. If you get damaged when Sprinting and not yet hit max sprint speed (when Spartan Charge kicks in), then you’ll be slowed by the damage. However, if you hit max sprint speed, damage wont phase you. Stopping Power just allows you to slow people from even max sprint speed and thus disabling Spartan Charge.

This sounds as if it would really ruin the fun. This kind of reminds me how in Halo 4 when you got shot, you staggered. Unable to sprint away from danger.
