I’m not saying that people shouldn’t voice their negative opinions about the Halo 4 info that was released. I, however, really have an issue when the negative opinions consists of comparisons to Call of Duty, of all games.
Both games have VASTLY different styles of game-play:
Halo:
-Longer kill times thanks to shielding.
-Power weapons and equipment on the map.
-Drivable vehicles.
-Game types with specific starting weapons, a la Team Snipers/Rockets.
-Default starting weapons for everyone. (Now, before you go all BUT HALO 4 HAS LOADOUTS WHERE YOU CHOOSE YOUR WEAPONS AND ARMOR ABILITIES!!!, the weapons you are forcibly given aren’t all that powerful and game-changing to begin with. It’s not like you can choose a .50 calibur sniper rifle as a starting weapon in a regular team slayer match. That’s ridiculous. And all AAs have a counter for each other to balance each out.)
-Guns cannot ADS (Aim Down the Sights). You don’t need to since you have advanced targeting within your HUD anyway, unless it’s a weapon with optics, such as a sniper rifle.
-You cannot cook a grenade (holding onto it to shorten the fuse time once thrown). All fuse times for thrown grenades are the same.
-Melees mainly consist of using the butt of your weapon. It takes two or three melees to kill an opponent from the front and one in the back. Another way to melee, introduced in Reach, is to execute an Assassination from behind.
Call of Duty:
-Faster kill times than Halo, due to lack of shielding and very little damage resistance to bullets, making most kills only require 3 or 4 body shots.
-Kill-streak rewards that spawn in an AI controlled aerial vehicle to gain kills for you, or give the player the ability to detect anyone near their vicinity on their radar without having to initially see them.
-All weapons in the game are available at spawn, ranging from sub-machine guns to shotguns to even rocket launchers, with customizable gun attachments and paint-jobs.
-Guns have the ability to ADS, making it easier to land shots onto your targets than if you were to hip-fire.
-Players can cook a frag grenade to shorten the fuse once thrown. Heck, there’s even a perk where one can drop a live grenade once killed!
-Melees consists of a quick knife-swipe that will instant-kill someone (even if you swiped the enemy’s shoe).
So tell me how exactly Halo is turning into CoD? They’re obviously vastly different games with different mechanics.
