Stop the nerfing!!!

Ok let me explain:

Im a college student and as of now I left my xbox back home. Because of this I play a great deal of halo Ce on pc. What I noticed by playing this game for a few months is that weapons used to be extremely strong.

Pistol was a three shot kill, shotgun had more range, plasma rifle had stun, rockets had great range etc. Player movement was adequate and jump height was enough to remain fun.

Over the years weapons were nerfed more and more. As it stands now player movement was lowered, ar kills take full clips, dmr kills in five shots with bloom extending kill times to 5-6 shots.

Why is this? Why do developers insist on taking player tools away from the player? It is not fun to be weak or slow. What is the deal?

Even vehicles and weapons that were previously balanced well were nerfed further. Im sorry but for halo 4, I do not want to ride warthogs made out of paper and shoot candy out of my rifle. I dont want to move slower, or jump like a fat couch potato. I want weapons that kill at a faster rate again, with a deep skill gap.

Empower the player 343! It makes for a better game. I dont care how “gritty” you think crippling us makes the game feel.

It’s a marketing strategy. H:CE had an extensive skill gap. Players with a year’s worth of experience will completely obliterate players who have a few months under their belt. I’m not even counting the tournament players who are nowadays in larger numbers and enter matchmaking with their own teams. The casual players will just not be able to pick up the game with a wide skill gap and turn them away. They basically need to in order to cater to casual players who play for fun rather than competition.
(example. my girlfriend completely hated H2 because she couldn’t play a single game without getting destroyed by players better than her without any incentive to play it. In reach, she has more tools available to her like sprint, gambling with bloom, etc etc. that give her a slight chance in at least getting a kill. Honestly you’ll barely find any casual players on this forum, but if you ask them, most likely they will say Reach is easier to play; at least from my own experience.)

Well heres some good news for ya i heard somewhere on this sites intel tab that they will have a playlist in reach that is basically the Halo CE splitscreen style, so before all the “nerfing” happened. Also i never knew what nerfing ment until i saw this post so thnx :D.

Agreed. They have nerfed absoloutly everything in the game. Seriously name one thing from CE to Reach that hasn’t been nerfed. ONE.

Frags?

While I do agree with your post, rockets in Reach is the closest thing we’ve gotten with. Maybe even more.

I agree that they mostly did it for marketing. But wouldnt longer kill times detract from casual enjoyment? I just feel like halo is trying to be something its not.
Halo can not compete with other fsp on a casual basis. Any idiot can pick up a rifle in COD and get a kill no matter how bad he is. There is no way to compete with that. Halo needs to be halo, not a hybrid of something else.

When did halo lose its swagger as an innovator? Its a damn shame

As nuke-ish as the Reach grenades are, they have nothing on CE. They just seem overpowered (and are) because everything else in Reach is a suckfest.

CE frags would kill you if you were under them. But since we move so slow, we can NEVER avoid grenades, whereas in CE, we can easily evade it.

It’s a good way of thinking, at least in a perfect reality. Casual players will always look for ease in the pace of games. Especially because gaming is just about the least important thing in their lives. In account for population, casual players greatly outnumber hardcore players/competitive players/ or just players who enjoy in large skill gapped games. There’s not much to be done about it on consoles, as the success of a lot of FPS franchises depend greatly on the casual audience. If you want competition, go to PC.

…That’s not fair! That can’t have been nerfed because all weapons do crap damage to them! You’re a cheating…cheater! Play fair >:(

Hahaha, you gotta admit it was clever though :stuck_out_tongue:

As for nades: in CE, throwing a nade in a 1v1 situation was suicide. You would get 3-shotted before being able to shoot again & longer fuse + increased movement = opponent easily dodges it.

However, with Reach, you have evade/AL/jetpack to help avoid them. All things need to be considered, not just blast radius and damage.

Though overall, I would say Reach nades are much more powerful. The strength of the magnum and slow fuse made nades mostly for prediction in CE.

I don’t understand how it was so hard for Bungie to create playgrounds for each croud, the casual/normal crowd and the serious/competitive crowd. Seriously why do you have to pick one or the other Bungie? Isn’t that what playlists are for? O_O.

> I don’t understand how it was so hard for Bungie to create playgrounds for each croud, the casual/normal crowd and the serious/competitive crowd. Seriously why do you have to pick one or the other Bungie? Isn’t that what playlists are for? O_O.

You can make a competitive game casual, but you can’t make a casual game competitive.

> You can make a competitive game casual, but you can’t make a casual game competitive.

Isn’t that what 343i is doing with the TU though? Reach is a casual game, but by changing some of the things, it’s going to create great competitive games.

But that would introduce skill… Not going to happen.
