This is why.
“HAHA OP! YOUR K/D IS SO LOW!”
You see that red rectangle? That’s why. There is no reason why that number should be that high. I’ll be generous, and say that a third of those assists are actual assists, kills where I helped another team mate get a kill.
I hate anyone who does this to any player. I can’t deal with people coming out of nowhere and landing headshots on a guy who’s shields I just shot down. The only gametype I feel like I don’t have to worry about this anymore, is SWAT. And I HATE SWAT.
If any of you do this…this abomination, stop. If you see a teammate shooting a guy, and the guy he’s shooting is losing, don’t shoot him. Your teammate probably doesn’t need your help. You know what he does need? He needs you to cover him, while he takes down other people, and then he can do the same for you.
The sheer amount of people who don’t play cooperatively, or with their team in proper ways (i.e, protecting team mates from other enemies, NOT “helping” with kills) is also ridiculous.
How many assists do you guys have? How has this not gotten on your nerves yet? I started the game with a 1.5 K/D. Look at me now. Thanks assists. Thanks a lot.
You’d have to remove stats, the score board, as well as K/D and W/L records in order for players to really start working as a team with only one outcome, that being who won the match. The fact your complaining about someone trying to help you in finishing off an enemy player speaks volumes on how much this mentality of score and stats have reduced players to mercenaries on the battle field bent on protecting their e-peen and where they land on the team score board.
Chill out, it’s not that serious. This is a team game. I have almost as many assist as I do deaths. Team shooting is a must in all games. I get assist in SWAT too, lol.
Honestly? Sometimes you can’t tell if your teammate is losing or not, you just see them coming under fire and try to help. There’s no surefire way to know “he didn’t need help” or “he did need help”.
There have been times where my kill has been stolen, but there have been other times where I said “Oh thank God my teammate came in to help me in the last part of that fight”.

Yes, this too. That’s the only time you don’t help out. I’ve had an -Yoink- come in when I was mid-assassination, and he started wildly shooting trying to kill the guy off before I could finish. When I message him about it, he admitted it, and it happens far too often. Sometimes I’ll see a guy being assassinated in a pose that looks like he’s alive, and shoot him once out of panic, but then notice he’s being assassinated and then just stop and watch.
I have a pretty wicked clip on my file share about a teammate and I performing a near-synchronized assassination on two guys who were walking down a hallway, one about a foot behind the other.
Also, the BR isn’t as bad as people say. If you can get the first burst off in mid range, you’ll win and the guy will likely be killed mid-burst if you aim for the head, eliminating the chance of someone stealing your kill.

I’m completely grateful for when a teammate comes and actually helps me. There is a distinct difference, where it’s completely clear that the guy on your team is winning the 1 on 1. It’s not that hard to realize that he doesn’t need help.
It can be annoying at times. I’m surprised when I get a kill on Ragnarok in BTB for example since it’s so open. It feels like around 85% of my kills get taken from me.
You might be joking, you might not. But believe me when I say, people who have the same views as you, are the people that are ruining this game for players like me. Sure, when you’re getting the kills it’s fine. The last few games I played, my assists were equal to my kills. No.

Halo is a team game you -Yoink–hat.
If you want to play a solo game then go play Quake.
You should be proud that you are getting Assists. It is a hundred times more impressive when you drop a ridiculous amount of Assists in a game than it is when you drop a large amount of Kills. Any idiot can crouch-camp and stat his way to 15+ kills in a game. If you can drop 13-15 Assists or more then you were truly playing as a TEAM PLAYER.

Well said, especially the e-peen part. Plenty of that going around with all this complaining.
