The change in the game was not innovative or revolutuionary. All it was was 343 taking things from Call of Duty and putting them in Halo. And now we are seeing the same in Halo 5 with the button layout, clamber, thruster, etc etc.
Halo CE, Halo 2, and halo 3 on the other hand HAD Innovative changes such as the ranking systems, equipment, theater, forge, clan systems, message systems, maps, Professional gaming wise, and on and on and on. But the main thing is: These innovations did not change the core gameplay mechanics that made Halo unique. This is the key. If you change the game too much then you scare away your true fanbase while not attracting very many new fans ala Halo 4’s sub 10,000 player population.

I like halo 5 but hate halo 4 and reach in mp as story was great, my fav is still halo 3 for mp but halo 5 has done a good thing with its changes
Sorry, but halo 5 didn’t borrow anything from call of duty. Even the thruster strafe was in halo 4, which is long before call of duty: AW. Also, what makes you think that going back to primitive 2004 gameplay mechanics will make halo successful again?

I agree, halo 5 felt fresh. I can understand why fans are upset thinking that it changed too much too fast, but I feel like this new game will breathe some life back into halo. They took out load outs, kill streaks, perks, armor abilities, and focused on equal starts again (something that is part of halo’ core)

Agreed. Seriously If it was halo 5 instead of halo reach i think fans would be very happy it feels like a natural evolution of the original trilogy. Heck even halo 4 in the MCC plays extremely well IMHO( i used thrusters BR and other ability aren’t worth mentioning) and it feels very much halo, And with halo 5 fixing alot of the issue of halo 4 while taking it back to the OG trilogy i feel this is going to be a great game

Halo needs change. Halo needs to be more tactical. Right now it exhibits a lot of twitch gameplay, making it a twitch shooter. Check out my thread for more detail: Halo is now a twitch shooter. Halo has also changed from game to game–even the Halo 2 “stuck in the past” people realize that Halo 2 is very different from Halo CE.

The MCC is not a new Halo game DERP. It doesn’t have a new campaign which is a MAJOR selling point. But even though it was just a remake of classic halo multiplayer and old campiang sit STILL sold millions. The Only difference between halo 4’s thruster and halo 5 is the buttons pressed, and the 3rd person view, That about it its function is the same. And halo 5 has been in the work since 2012 likely, and seeing as the mechanics were at least conceptually in halo previously they did not take them from CODAW.
Because they have been balance and implemented differently.
Then tell me if you can What Innovation can you add to halo to make the Next best Halo game(MP). With it being cosmetic or copying other games.

Are you really going to sit here and ignore Clamber, Sprint, Thruster as a combination? COD AW and halo 5 beta play exactly alike in terms of movement. END OF STORY. This is not even up for debate. The one thing halo fans have always hated is call of Duty and vice versa. The last thing we need is this.

Those things take years to come up with it’s not something a person comes up with at 2am in the morning in 10 seconds. OBVIOUSLY there are tons of new undiscovered ideas out there. You saying " Well everythings already been done so if we have to copy COD and other games then so be it" is a horrible mentality. Luckily I know 343 doesn’t have that mentality they are purposely copying Call of Duty not because they lack ideas but because they think they can steal CODs fanbase. by making Halo siilar to COD

-Button layout
-Perks
-Movement
-Taking weapons off map
-ADS
-League ranking system
-Clamber
-Carepackages
-One shot weapons Halo 4 had more one shot weapons than not
Ok do you see these major things that all of a sudden in just a few years suddenly got implemented in Halo and changed the game for the worse? And that is just a quicky list. If you cannot see that 343 is trying to copy Call of Duty thyen you are blind as a bat. If you can’t see that this new formula has failed then you are a lost cause

Swapping weapons with teammates
throwing objects (balance issues with objectives?)
throwing weapons
dropping weapons
button glitches formalized into actual combos (I mean, BXR even a medal…)
equipment that replaces a weapon (think grenade throw-back device akin to a watcher or maybe a short range teleporter)
I mean, Halo really had its core gameplay down. That’s about all I would change. Things other than mechanics:
jump height powerup
speed boost powerup
more dynamic maps
combat training mode (seperate from matchmaking, of course)
1-50 brought back
full map editor over forge
new weapons/vehicles (obviously)
hard to use mid range utility weapon like the Halo CE pistol
mappable controls
There are plenty of improvements to be made besides “modernizing.”

They dont at all play the same way. At all. Speak for yourself I a huge fan of halo but im also a COD fan I dont hate either, nor do many of the fans, in fact most fans Don’t give a rats -Yoink- about the so call Competition.
Im not saying that at all. All you people keep saying the Halo is copy COD are forgetting the fact that they DON’T PLAY THE SAME. halo 5 plays completely different from CODAW in just about every way possible. Movement mechanics add a new level of SKILL mastery to gameplay it does not remove skill it replaces skill. and it in no way Hinder the Gun, grenades, and melee halo golden triangle. People say the ttk is to short i argue Halo CE ttk is shorter. I ask this because most idea already exist. Those who have answered my question only offered mechanics from other games nothing revolutionizing. What people want Is Halo 2/3 Thats it Updated graphics that it you essentially want halo to be COD, with halo mechanics. That all i see now and day. Its not the same as Halo 2/3 its do different so thus is bad. So take away Sprint thrust clamber, and over haul the MP what makes this game stand out? you dont you just made halo 2/3. and if that’s all you want they are right there. if that not what you want then what do you want?

-Weapon camo? no issue
-Button layout? for player to transition this does not hinder player its not an issue.
-Perks? taken out
-Movement? The same as any other halo except Sprint thrust and clamber (that don’t in any way play like COD, that like saying COD plays like halo because it uses similar mechanics)
-Taking weapons off map? Taken out
-ADS? no way the same thing.
-League ranking system? the new ranking system works exactly the same as 1-50 while stay more competitive, With simi-pro ranksing and Pro ranking Similar to many competitive ranking systems
-Clamber? This is nearly negligible
-Carepackages? taken out
Do you understand That halo 4 is a natural Evolution of Halo reach Set out by Bungie? 343 took reach saw what work what didn’t and tried to create a game based on that. They evolved halo reach into halo 4. Halo 5 on the other hand removes nearly all These things and brings back more Core halo gameplay then reach and halo 4. Halo 5 Is the logical Progression of halo ce/2/3 If you remove the sprint, thruster, and clamber, You have a game the plays exactly like halo 2/3/ at least.
Still doesn’t change that that Thrusters and sprint are extensions of reach mechanics not COD if you can’t see that then you are “blind as a bat”

But none of those thing Are what will bring back the masses. These thing are pretty superfluous. These Are not innovative. They are Sandbox additions, None of these are enough to separate Halo 2/3/ from 5.
All that said Im not apposed the these Additions In fact many of then seem great.
But i ask you this. What is the major reason people talk bad about COD? It’s because it doesn’t change, it puts the same game out over and over.
What your saying, these addition you mentioned, Are not enough to “change” the game enough to warrant buying the same game again.
