Stop Saying 5 Should Be Like CE

NOTE: Before I say anything else and you start hating on me for being a white knight, I’m not saying that you shouldn’t want it to be like 2 or 3. I’m saying CE is way different than 2 or 3.

This is a pretty basic message to all of those who say they want Guardians to be like 2, 3, and CE.

CE was nothing at all like 2 or 3. Spawns were terrible, weapons were scaled very differently in power, and CE had a completely different competitive feel to it. Yes, it was there, but it was more in the form of wanting to beat your friends rather than being the best player. 2 and 3 do have the latter mentioned feeling. A lot of people complain that they want Guardians to be like 2, 3, and CE. You don’t want Guardians to be like CE at all. It’s so different than all the others that it’s not even funny. I think even 4 is more similar to 2/3 than CE is. The whole pace is different. Now, I totally understand if you want Guardians to have the competitive feel that 2 and 3 brought. Just stop wanting it to be like CE. That game was eras different.

I want Halo 5 to be like Halo 5.

I understand the joke so make it like Halo 2/3 then. Loved playing those games.

I want Halo 5 to be like Cod:AW, guess I am getting what I want!

Jokes aside, I am liking it… but I would like the additional option to have a slower paced version i.e higher jump height, no sprint, no thruster packs etc. just so it caters for everyone’s play styles.

I totally want that, too. I’m just making this post to all the “competitive” players who say 5 isn’t what it should be. It’s fine if you feel that your experience should be more like 2 or 3, but we don’t need another CE, as the competitive essence that 2 and 3 had was much different than CE’s. However, I still want 5 to be what the developers imagine it should be.

Halo Ce is widely regarded as the most competitive Halo game, and for good reason.
Your post astounds me. It’s so wrong on so many levels.

The only thing I agree with is the thought that Halo 2 and Halo Ce are different, and that Halo 4 is more similar to Halo 2 than Halo Ce.

Dude, no offense, but you are joking, right? CE had no precision weapons (minus the pistol/sniper). The spawns were absurd. You had to set up extra TVs and Xboxes in your mother’s basement just to play with more than 4 people (until the invention of the PC edition). I’m not trying to say that CE isn’t competitive, but it’s nothing at all like 2 or 3. The competitive feel that those two games had was very different than CE’s.

In fact, I do understand how CE had the “most competitive feel”. It was probably because you were killing your friends in the same house, and not some random people over the internet. It had a more internal feel, yes, but not like the feel that 2 or 3 brought.

May I ask what is “so wrong”? Perhaps in your opinion, yes, but I believe that this post could at least be considered generally correct. Obviously, the competitive feel argument will be different for everybody, especially those who played those LAN parties in the early 2000s, but do I not offer at least something of an argument here?

CE was just bad for muliplayer. Hate on me all you want, but it was good with friends, but it was not well balanced at all. The fact that your pistol (a starting weapon) doubled as a sniper rifle made almost every non power weapon irrelevant.

That’s exactly what I’m trying to say. The balance of weapons and vehicles, as well as that awful spawning, made it more of an internal competitive feel rather than Halo 2 or Halo 3’s outward MLG-type feel.
