Stop Reminding me it's just a game in the game

This is mostly a problem with warzone and warzone firefight, but I feel like whenever the announcers talk they are only doing so to remind me I am in a simulation in the game and not even on a real pretend battlefield. I really don’t mind the lore for multiplayer still being infinity, I just don’t want Sarah Palmer to keep telling me that. Especially during firefight, the pve mode. I cannot feel like I’m actually doing anything in the game because of Sarah Palmer. She may as well be saying “I hope you do well in this pointless activity” or “you made it through a part of this simulation, there is exactly 1 more simulated fake wave of fake covenant to fight.” This is a problem I have with some of the assassins creed games too. The way the lore works it is constantly breaking the immersion of being in a real world. Same thing goes for the arena announcer saying when weapons will spawn. It just breaks immersion. Not sure if anyone else has as big of a problem with it as I do, but if halo infinite has a firefight mode with this problem, or if it somehow makes it’s way to invasion, that would annoy me.

In universe, multiplayer is a training combat simulation, so it makes sense for the announcers to be there. They’re acting as your “commander” during combat, informing you of what needs to be done.

I thought there was a way to disable hearing the voices in H5 somehow already though, wasn’t there? So hopefully they’ll just keep that feature for you and others.

Maybe I’m thinking of a different game though, it’s been about 1.5 years since I’ve regularly played H5.

You can turn the announcers off if they bother you. I personally enjoyed having the grunt announcer and I hope that Infinite has a variety of announcers to choose from

The announcer req pack was the only thing I spent real life cash on in H5. It was worth every last penny too!

I like to cycle through the announcers. I mostly stick with Buck, but sometimes I’ll go to exuberant or the grunt (whose name I forget).

I don’t mind the announcers. What I could do without is the Spartan to Spartan dialogue that occurs in H5 multiplayer. I find that unnecessary and distracting.

Can’t you turn that off too? I solo que when I play, and I usually can’t use my mic because it would wake up my kid. The spartan chatter can be pretty helpful sometimes when there’s no one doing callouts.

I was always against the notion of canonizing multiplayer modes as combat simulation. And not just Halo btw! It makes little sense outside of arena and Warzone firefight anyway, also it limits what devs can actually do with with different modes and races. Beast mode in Halo? Forget it, as long as it is a simulation you’ll only be able to play as a Spartan or - maybe - as an Elite. Canonically SoS troops did train with Spartans in simulations as a side note.

The announcer itself ain’t an issue by its own either imho, but ironically it does break immersion a hell lot more if it is a main campaign character giving you orders instead of a generic voice. At least imho! I rather have a good campaign filled with a lot of extra stuff for us lore fans and a cool sounding voice for mp matches instead! Leave the canon out of mp though if not for some fun Easter eggs. I rather have 343i go full blown out with no restrictions!

You can turn that off

To be fair the character Sarah Palmer is more annoying, I recommend trying the other announcers for something more relaxing or as others say maybe they could just give the option to disable but generally I prefer listening to Nathan Fillion or the Grunt in Halo 5…so be interesting if they let us choose them in Infinite.

It was ok at first, but after while, Palmer got really boring. I’m not a big fan of saying when weapons will spawn over the speakers either… it should be silent when they do, and the timers should only be shown if the weapon pad is in view. That was part of map control in the old games… You had to memorize when the weapons would spawn, so you could control the map. If they went back to no weapon pads except in certain modes, I’d be happier (the weapon just shows up in it’s spawn spot with no announcement or timers shown).

I wasn’t aware of this. Thank you for letting me know!

There’s always the option to change the announcer or turn it off completely. I didn’t mind it though. Only time it annoyed me was when I heard Sarah Palmer’s voice in Warzone, hence why I bought the announcer pack. Not one of 343’ s brightest moments having a poorly recieved character as an announcer.
