Stop putting me in US servers

Please This game is barely playable with 20ping I don’t want to play with 120Ping, its not much to ask. Halo MCC has a server option where I can fix this. WHY is this not an option?

You WILL join US servers there’s no reason you should be using servers that actually give you good connection!

The game is bleeding players outside of the US at an insane rate. If you search during nighttime for the US, you can even get a “not enough players found” note in ranked m+kb Input.

This game is almost very unfavorable when played outside the US. I have the feeling that my attack will not hit me for one punch.

Finally I quit this game. Yes, because my season pass reached 100 and I had nothing to do.

I just came on to say the exact same thing! I’m based in the UK and play on Xbox, and this game is bad enough with the desync let alone with having to deal with the lag and latency that exaggerates the poor hit reg and other network performance issues even more.

The other day I posted a long thread stating how I only connect to US servers in 14% of my games (21/150), however tonight 343i has set a new low for themselves in my experience with their horrendous matchmaking algorithms…and let’s face it, it’s a very low bar!

I just played 10 games of SWAT, and 6 of those games were on US servers:

  1. Washington DC (83ms)
  2. Amsterdam (18ms)
  3. Amsterdam (18ms)
  4. Washington DC (83ms)
  5. Los Angeles (153ms)
  6. Amsterdam (18ms)
  7. Dublin (18ms)
  8. Washington DC (83ms)
  9. Los Angeles (153ms)
  10. Washington DC (83ms)

I can see all the servers on my router and I can see what servers I’m connecting to, and the server ping matches what is displayed in game so these details are correct.

There is absolutely no reason why I should be getting placed in these high ping lobbies when Amsterdam and Dublin are both clearly available. How do you expect players outside of the US to compete when we are forced to play at a disadvantage? Have you even tried to play the game (let alone SWAT) with similar skilled players at 80-150ms ping? Let me tell you…it is not an enjoyable experience!

Congratulations 343i…you have officially earned and been awarded “bad actor” status.

I can see the location of the server I’m about to connect to at the “loading map” screen. I’m very very close to ditching this game as I have Elden Ring ready to roll, so if this issues persists then I’m just going to intentionally start dashboarding which will adversely impact the enjoyment of other players…and that will be on you 343i.

I’m in Western Canada and about 50% of the time I wind up on European servers with 250 ms ping time. They really need to just turn off their automatic Server selection joke code and allow us to pick the server we want to play on. In 4v4 games, I get 25 ms ping times if it connects to the closest one.

If I get matches that are > 70 ms ping times, I just leave. And sicne that happens a lot these days, I just gave up and play something else.

…and yet they can’t work out why players are constantly complaining about desync! May be it’s something to do with their broken matchmaking placing players on servers thousands of miles away when there are local servers available (this doesn’t explain why they get desync in HCS tournament games on LAN though).

haha! you fool- you fell into my trap card! i play the 250ms card! now you must suffer with me!

but in all seriousness… this ping and connection issue is just, sad… pathetic, even. i live in alaska over 'ere, and my connection can very HEAVILY. 60-250ms. not in a single match, no no… on different matches. one match perfectly fine with 60-80. the next is minimum at 100 spiking to 260ms. like bruh, it’s so… inconsistent, it’s infuriating

what makes this even sadder is the fact that NO OTHER GAMES HAVE THIS ISSUE. Call of duty, MCC, paladins, apex, overwatch, h5 etc… all consistently good. but infinite? nah, just toss me across the world, k thanks 343. do they really need our money that badly for the poor servers?

I genuinely feel your pain. It’s bad enough at 80ms let alone 150ms…and I simply wouldn’t even bother playing the game on anything over 200ms.

I’ve heard about the issues AUS players are constantly subjected to, and in my eyes it is just unacceptable. To hear that other players in NA are also getting these types of issues is reassuring but not in a good way…it just shows how wide spread this issue is for players regardless of location.

343i claimed it was happening because of “bad actors” using geo filter, and we were subjected to players in the community calling us “cheaters” despite their basic lack of knowledge on the subject. The fact that the game itself now puts us on servers thousands of miles away without geo filter shows that 343i have used geo filter as an excuse for an issue that is in their game and/or netcode. I didn’t believe what they were saying at the time, and the player experience now clearly shows that they were telling mistruths in an attempt to shift the blame.

I would actually still like 343i to explain where this mythical “middle ground” is for players when they force us to connect to servers on the other side of the world?!

343i are the “bad actors”.

They don’t really have a choice when no one is playing in any other region

So you’re saying the population in EU is so low that they can’t place us on the Dublin or Amsterdam servers? As you will see from my post above and another thread I posted this week, the servers are there and I get placed on them so a low player population is not an acceptable excuse at this stage.

Also, how do you explain US players getting placed in high ping games when there are 6x Halo Infinite servers in the US? As an example, Medix Fox posted above stating that he/she lives in Alaska…so why is MF getting 250ms ping when there are servers available in Seattle and Los Angeles at much lower ping values?

And around we go yet again.

In truth, when I last played most games were in 20/30 ms (so local servers)

I see this has now got worse & we are back to the good ol’ H5 days.

I don’t play this game anymore & will return once server selection is an option.

A little comms from 343 on this matter beyond gas-lighting the community would be nice though.

Yep. No server selection and no match composer = dead game for non US players. Something I warned about back in December.
And here we are. Welcome to Halo 5.5.

Luckily MCC is there to comfort us lost souls outside the US border.

We’re all leaving. I haven’t played in a week (besides testing the patch to fix the crashing that was a fail) and I don’t miss it.

I rarely play Infinite now, Assassins Creed, Resident Evil, TMCC & Dying Light have a lot more to offer me right now

Might install Halo 5 again, not my favourite Halo but the one thing I respect about it, it has the fun factor
