TLDR? Go to the last 2 paragraphs…
One year after. Nothing has changed. People are still stuck between the old and golden days and the new modern COD-esque Halo. I have a full ride to the University of Michigan and am quite busy here, so sorry if this won’t be as detailed as some of my other posts. Sorry guys, its been a while (I see your messages you send). This paragraph is meant for those who want to know what I’ve been doing (as I said, I’ve seen your messages asking where I’ve been) and this isn’t some kind of statement I’m trying to “brag” about.
Anyways, nothing has changed for the last 7 years. I still remember these arguments brewing from 7 years ago. Halo 4 made lots of people go away (we all know why,) and even though some people on these forums and the big Halo YouTubers claim Halo 5 brought the community “back together” the issue has been compounded to such a point where its almost undeniable to say that my view of Halo, which matches up similarly but not exactly with the common “return to the roots which made it great”, has to be in the minority from this point on.
The only people who have stayed after the controversial reach, the failure of 4 and the nightmare of MCC, as well as the half-hearted effort to “bring the community together” in halo 5, are the people who have loved the new style since Reach. The mentality of these players, I will never understand (no offense.) I mean, just today I got a notification about a message I wrote, where I said "Halo 3 sold 15 million and Halo 5 sold around 5 million. That’s a 66% decrease in 9 years, and Halo is supposed to survive for ‘30 years.’" Some guy says," well actually it sold 12.5 million." so many of you miss the point… the point is that its on an incredible decline not usually seen by blockbuster franchises that are flagships of a console. The point isn’t that I was inaccurate in my statement.
TLDR HERE
ANYWAYS, to get to the actual point, I have given up. I don’t know how many fans are still around that believe in Halo the same way I do (I’ve even memorized the trilogy soundtrack). I just want to say, I give up. Congrats to all my 343- lover nemesis’s (nemesi?), misinformed fans, people who have only played 5 but judge the other games, and those of you who simply just like the new style because you started playing Halo since Reach, you all have won in the end. Halo, at this point, is hanging onto its roots by a rope composed of a half-ripped thread. I don’t know how the old fans that still share my opinions still keep up, so I just want to say, Halo is yours now. In my opinion, you have destroyed many people’s favorite franchise in these last 7 years. 7 years ago, you were all a minority in your opinion, and we looked down at you with amusement and shock with how you thought Halo should be. 7 years later, you all look at us with discontempt, unreliable people looking through nostalgia goggles and just too attached to the old days.
Things change. Halo has changed, and while I will buy Halo as long as Master Chief is in it, you are now the fanbase that Halo belongs to. The torch has been passed on to you, the second generation of Halo fans, and there is nothing people like me can do about it.
This doesn’t mean I’m quitting Halo; I am quitting giving out my constructive criticism and commentary since my views are now shared by the minority at this point. I am very sorry for all of you who send me messages about how great and accurate my posts are that I will stop.
edit:: See? This is EXACTLY WHAT I’m TALKING ABOUT.
People on here" Well I am a veteran so what are you talking about? I still play Halo"
I DO TOO! The WHOLE POINT OF THIS IS THAT WE ARE IN THE MINORITY! ITS SO OBVIOUS THAT SOME PEOPLE STILL PLAY!! Why do I even bother… I’ve only met around 50 people on here who understand the bigger picture…
