343industries are working on a video game with loads of religious undertones and inspirations, many of which are tied to the main conflict and main character of the franchise…
…and they forbid anyone from discussing those core themes?!
WOW.
No wonder only children take these games seriously.
You know, I’ve always had the suspicion that the people who work on the Halo games are a bunch of immature brats, incapable of handling adult issues. People who slip in big-people context and then never elaborate on it, just as a quick controversial cash-grab. People who are more concerned with getting attention instead of keeping it. Now I have confirmation.
Say what you want about Call of Duty, and its’ tired, desperate excuse to be “edgy” by showing terrorism and other scary topics. At least when it has something to say, it doesn’t pu–y out. At least they don’t say you’re fighting terrorism, and then make you spend the next 8 hours shooting green donkeys and never exploring or mentioning terrorism. When they find a theme, they go through with it.
Is it too much to ask that a game specifically made for adults, labeled a “Mature” game be a little less juvenile about the tricky subjects IT WENT OUT OF ITS’ WAY TO PRESENT?
Is that language seriously appropriate?
Your first post was well thought out and intricate, I thought’ you would you be above that.
seems like you’re the immature one here.
in all seriousness though, the reason why they forbid religious discussions is simply because it starts mile long threads discussing nothing about the game and breeds hatred and threats. EDIT: What a shame, most of these people missed your last topic so they don’t understand what you’re talking about. basically, he went into details about why Master Chief was just a blank character and why he needed more personality.
the ratings are typically irrelevant, they tend to be inaccurate not only that but they tend not to matter to a lot of people.
as for them making the game more and more childish, well in my opinion halo has always been a game that any age could get into, I played halo CE when I was 6 years old and I don’t think it affected all too much.
WOW
how old are you 6?
stop complaining, halo 4 has a much more mature vibe than any of the others, just go and play CoD because you obviously want to play something THATZ MDAE FOR TEH ADULTZZZ LOLZ

Yup, and a big M for 17 in America.
You want to know the reason we can’t discuss adult themes here? It’s because the smart people of the internet are ALWAYS extremists on some topic. Having an adult discussion will get out of hand and crazy with all the extreme views.
The only reason CoD has those things is for publicity.
I… don’t see anyone else complaining about it. You’re right; Halo has a cubic assload of religious undertones, as shown here. However, I have never seen anybody discussing it on these forums. Frankly, you’re the first I’ve seen to point them out. But if there are any rules against discussing references to religion in Halo, please show me.
And don’t refer to the community as children. That’s just making yourself flamebait.
Trying to talk about the covenant’s religion? There could be interesting things to explore there. Not sure if religion was mentioned much, if at all, on the UNSC side.

Yes…that makes sense…
I did not come on the internet to discuss adult themes such as religion, I came on here to discuss my interests. Let’s leave adultery for real life shall we?

HAHAHA. That is actually the greatest post, ever. No sarcsam.
OT, the reason is we will make a flame war so large, and have so many bans, that we perhaps cannot continue to keep our population, and become ruins because of the bans

I’m sorry, but I had to laugh at that. Should we have him start collecting pretty rocks? Maybe get a pet dog?
The Master Chief isn’t a “blank” character; this isn’t Call of Duty. However, a genetically enhanced supersoldier who is constantly being sent into battle doesn’t exactly have time for philosophical discussions of life, death, and headshots. They’re built for war, and fighting is what Spartans do. However, Halo 4 will delve into John’s personality more than in previous games, though likely not as much as the books.

Hey, I know, I was just telling you what he said, I was going to tell him myself in his last thread but it was closed before I could.
