Short, and not very sweet at all. Rage incoming.

So, just to kill some time, I returned to the Halo 4 section here, once again.
Clicked on a few of those suggestion threads. As usual, some were weak, and others contained common sense. However, there were a handful of replies to these threads that just made me lose a little faith in this section of the forum. While there are some really smart people on here, ignorance is quite apparent.

(Re-enacted and over-dramatized paraphrase of what I saw in a few of said threads.)

Guy 1: Hey, I have a pretty cool idea for Halo 4 that wouldn’t effect the gameplay in a major way!

Guy 2: OMGUZ0Rz TATS TWO MUHC LIEK COll af Dutty!!! NON ON!ON!ONN NOOOO!"

Me: facepalm

I’ve said it once.
I’ve said it thrice.
And, once again, I shall utter these words:

JUST BECAUSE A CONCEPT OR FUNCTION IS INCLUDED IN ANOTHER GAME YOU DON’T LIKE, (Call of Duty, Battlefield, Etc.) DOES NOT, AN ANY WAY, MEAN THAT THE IDEA IS BAD!

I’m talking about:

Being able to prestige,
Adding decals/call-signs to your weapons and/or armour,
The ability to have “squads” in BTB games,
Fully customizable Emblem,
Etc.

Seriously. Can you not stop your raging fanboyism for ONE second, so you can realize that you make yourself look like a fool!?

Now, obviously, if someone suggested something like:

“HERPADERP Fully Custumeizabl clases with amor ablties pl0xorz”

THAT would be stepping into the territory of other games, but the little elements I’ve mentioned above are essentially HARMLESS to Halo’s gameplay.
So, please, community, stop being prejudice against concepts and ideas from other games. For once, THINK about what you are objecting to, so you don’t end up making yourself look like a fool.
Now, this has happened on MULTIPLE occasions; Not just one.
And I’m getting sick of it.
Oh, and also: It’s even MORE foolish to say that a suggestion was taken from CoD, when it has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with CoD.

I won’t object to the subject of bad ideas existing. I’m objecting to the subject of “OMG EETZ IN COD SO IT MUST BE BADD.”

when someone is suggesting a throwing knife or a weapon leveling system or activating the Halo Array after 20 kills i think im gonna call out CoD bs.

I don’t hate games, I hate mechanics. Being able to prestige and slap stickers all over your guns are mechanics I’m not fond of.

Couldn’t have put it better myself OP! I’m often astounded at the backlash people get when things like Black ops emblem editor is given praise and other similar aesthetic things that can’t affect Halos gameplay in any way.
I can understand if people feel features like that aren’t necessary because, well. . . . they aren’t! However i would welcome an idea from any game without prejudice if the idea is good or at least fun!
I will just add though (before anyone says it!) that i know the emblem editor in CoD was abused but the ideas OP listed at the end of the day wont break gameplay or change Halo radically, yet they are always instantly shot down simply because they exist in another franchise.
Sometimes i think its a good job Halo was around before Cod or it would get criticised for having weapons in it lol.

What is prestige? Also i would like to see final kill cams and enhanced aesthetic
customisation for armour and guns.
But nooby crap like killstreaks can fridge off.
