Stop forcing us to play LSS

You only get XP for completing matches, regardless of what you did during it… that’s the bit I don’t get.

There should be more XP for doing stuff directly related to the game mode’s objective. Challenge XP should just be a secondary bonus.

What the -yoink-?

I was pacing myself through the event… had five boxes ticked after week one (which was a bit annoying because I had at least three challenges half done).

But just logged on. Played a couple of games of fiesta to line up four LSS challenges. And bam… the last five boxes ticked in 2 games.

Edit; Something about double ticks for each challenge this week?

Yeah they tweeted, all events worth double and they’re easier to make up for the confusion last week about challenges not tracking.

It was kind of weirdly disappointing for it to just magically go from 5 to finished in one game.

No there isn’t and that’s another complaint so many people have. XP is dispensed after a match whether you win or lose, whether you do well or do poorly, it’s a set amount. There’s no bonuses for doing well, earning medals or even for things like assists, helping with objective, etc. Which honestly is a huge pain in the -Yoink!- bc it leads to people not being team players bc they’re chasing their own objectives. How are we supposed to expect anyone to play the objective of a match (even slayer sometimes with how weird some of the challenges are) when their only source of progression is these stupid challenges? And don’t even get me started on the RNG, if you’re out of challenge swaps and get stuck behind something that’s going to be a lucky shot if you even get the right match type at all, welp. f you, pony up the money for a swap or miss out

I do not have faith that 343i has the competence to not completely bungle any event they produced.

I like Swat, Swat is one of my favorite game modes.
Fights are over instantly, and I don’t at all feel bad for dying because, its all just headshots. Some people win engagements purely by lucky.

The Swat event was one of THEE worst events this game has ever Had by far,
Poor overall design,
with challenges that were actively hostile towards its players,
on a Rotation of maps that were randomize, and mostly unfun to play.

Honestly, most of the events have not been fun.
Tenrai was really the ONLY fun event, because of how relaxed the Challenges were,
You earn them fairly naturally over the course of play.

Doesn’t matter that I likely won’t use it,
Its the principal that one of the few forms of progression the game has is being poorly handled.
“Having” the thing, isn’t as important as “unlocking” the thing.

Its this poor understanding player desires,
if you only hold the position that the product is all that matters at the end of the day,
you omit the experience in trying to obtain it,

And where is stands, the experience is a bad one.
Again, it really doesn’t matter that I won’t be using it, what matters is that I want to earn it, just to have it.
And the path to having it is paved with frustration,
To the point that feels representative of the entire games experience.

This is likely a critical reason why so, so many people are abandoning the game.

Halo: Infinite Frustration.

Optional implies a fair alternative to a given service.

When you get McDonalds, you have the option to remove or add toppings for no additional cost most of the time, except in the cases of “premium” toppings.

You Still GET to have the burger you paid for.

What ISN’T optional,
Is having All your options completely locked off from you, unless you spend an exorbitant amount of time earning them. Or alternatively, Shelling out additional money in hopes that RNG will allow you the opportunity to bypass the time requirement more quickly.

Could you imagine?
If McDonalds Put a condiment slot machine on their menu?
And plot twist, you don’t even get to have your burger is you don’t unlock the onions and the pickles.
But they will take your money regardless.

I think,
you fundamentally do not understand the examples you are using in relationship to the game.
This is at its core coercive behavior on the part of 343i’s game design.

It IS FoMo by design,
And it uses that FoMo to monetize its features,
Its not an honest exchange of time OR money for the games content,
The game is designed to farm you for Play time, or the Maximum amount of money it can get away with,
By abusing everyone’s innate habit to fall into Sunk Cost cycles.

Red flag that you are not coming at this with a open mind.

343 have acknowledged they have work to do on the challenges. They are getting better. Still a way to go. But the trend is good.

Of course it does. It’s the whole point.

Anything else means you are simply being a martyr to evolve your self fulfilling prophecy that 343 is out to get you.

This is starting to become a “you” problem.

Cool analogy. Now I’m hungry. Might have to do a Maccas run.

But the bit you ignored is that in a week or so the menu goes back to normal. In the mean time, if you don’t like the new bitter sauce, just eat a different burger. Maybe even hit up some nugs. Or eat a salad.

Which is kind of how all games, or commercial products work.

But in this case I really think you have control.

There is absolutely no reason to put yourself through Hell for a weekly reward you admit isn’t of value. At some stage it’s you choosing to do it so for the reward of being able to complain about it.

IMHO You should be able to pick what gametypes you want to play like we can in Halo MCC. I don’t understand why 343i does not have this option in Halo Infinite! UNBELIEVABLE!!!

I hope by season 3 they come up with something that will allow people who already completed the challenges to not have to do them anymore. Sometimes we try to play with friends and help them with the grind but if the event calls for a single player match then, we literally stop playing and do something else.

No idea what the hell you’re on. I have played that mode 2 times this season and haven’t touched it since. Where are you getting that you’re “forced” to play it?
