Stop Crying For Nerfs, A Kind Request

So I decided to hop on the forums to see how people were fairing on Halo 5, and generally it seems a good number of people enjoy it. There are a couple of questionable design choices here and there, specifically towards customization. I for one love this game however. The story, multiplayer, it’s all very good and fast paced. I personally believe this game is a big step up from Halo 4. But my opinion isn’t the topic of this thread.

I have seen there are several threads crying for nerfs, specifically one where a player threatens to return the game because he believes the pistol is OP. Now, the game just came out, how do you know that the pistol is OP for one thing? This is an instance of people wanting nerfs without determining if it is indeed OP. What people like this man fail to realize is that he also has access to this supposedly OP pistol. If you are good with it, why can’t you wipe out the team just as easily as you claim others to do? It just confuses me.

I’ve been an avid Halo player since Halo 2. Countless hours and games under my belt, but I’ve never cried that something is OP, unless it is something like early Halo 4 boltshot, that -Yoink!- was ridiculous and you know it haha. In any case, a few years ago I started playing fighting games pretty seriously, starting with Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition, moving on to stuff like Killer Instinct and others. If there is one thing I learned from playing a fighting game, people don’t care how bad you are. You MUST know the ins and outs of the game from a technical standpoint in order to stand a chance. If something seems OP, chances are you simply don’t know how to properly counter it. SF taught me that rather than complaining for nerfs, I should better MY OWN gameplay and beat the things I consider cheap or OP. That is the mark of someone with true skill, overcoming things that beat you. Like in a fighting game if a character beats you, pick them up and figure them out. In Halo 5, pick up that pistol and get good with it, then you’ll know how to counter it. You’ll get beat by things and learn that pistol isn’t as OP as you think it is.

Please fellow Halo fans, do not nerf this game into non-existence. Take the time to get some skill and let the meta for the game evolve. I am in no way trying to be pretentious or act like I’m better than anyone. I am in no way a pro, but I don’t like constantly losing either. I put in the work and I evolve my gameplay. I wouldn’t have a steady 1.6-1.7 K/D since Halo 3 if I didn’t. If something is truly OP, you will see EVERYONE use it.

Well said man. It’ll take time to truly see what is OP and what isn’t. I have faith that 343 will make the proper adjustments, if said adjustments are necessary.

I know right, it is only day one. Place feels like the destiny forums right now. But things will get better once people try new things.

Hopefully after a week or two they will stop crying

Agreed. Seriously, it hasn’t been 24 hours yet. Give it time.

There will be no nerfs, pistol works fine and I like killing BR scrubs with it. (Decent players with BR still have upper hand) If this game turns into a one gun army like the rest of halo games I’m out.

It just rewards people with really good accuracy. I haven’t played a console fps in a while so im getting destroyed by the pistol, its very frustrating. Does it need a nerf? Nah. I just cant use it worth a -Yoink-.
