In normal Arena, there is a huge problem with the radar having a larger range:
MAPS ARE TOO SMALL
there.
a 25 m range would allow players to find everyone everywhere. 18m is reasonable. also you can make a gametype to “fix” this you know? just go to custom games and try a match with 30m beta insane range. (try to get at least 4 people and don’t just kill each other. check how the radar basically means you can see everyone all the time).
Now Warzone:
I don’t remember the current range, but with this one complain all you want. I think it should be 150m. and 3D radar as well. (you know, how it used to work in reach and halo 4. telling you whether its above or below or at the same level.
There. Now you know why 343 hasn’t “fixed” the radar. it would break Arena with the current maps.
just wait until forge and BTB. and more gametypes are created. remember the radar range is not hardwired (“hardcoded”) into the game and its changeable through the gametype settings.
The shorter radar range makes a different type of gameplay. You need to know where the opponents are and it makes close combat weapons more useful like the sword.
The problem is, since 343 felt the need to put all these structures that block lines of sight, yet you can clamber over them, the radar needs to accommodate for that.
one of the main reasons the assault rifle is viewed as OP right now is because the range on the radar is god awful. Too many times your going to be shot right In your back and you won’t know where it’s coming from.
And if your some über MLG try hard, yeah we get it, you view the radar as a crutch. Which is why they should disable radar in Team Arena, and increase the range of it in every other playlist.

first of all: **you’re
second, I think that if team arena should have the radar disabled, you might as well simply not care about the 18 m enabled one, right?
Then team slayer is actually available in team arena, which means you could also just ignore the radar, BUT, slayer pro do should be in this playlist and everyone knows slayer pro has no radar.
Among the other playlists, there is SWAT. You do not want a radar in SWAT. especially a 25m one.
what’s left for playlists would be breakout and free for all.
Having a huge radar on breakout would break the gametype.
The only gametype I agree would be fine with 25m (normal range from any other halo) is free for all. However it might need some tweaking.
and while its true that its terribly disorienting when someone with an ar shoots you from somewhere and you don’t even know where, but that’s just how it is. You can constantly look around to prevent this, or just use the evade and try to make it out of the situation. I am by no means an mlg player, and actually I am a fairly average player with a KD of 0.9 in most halos. but it wouldn’t hurt that everyone works their preventive defensive skills a little rather than trying to sprint all over the map so that campers and lucky passersby can get the jump on them.
Also, I think the magnum is way worse than the AR when you get attacked by surprise from an unknown position.
Current radar is pretty much useless… I see the person before I see him on radar. So it plays like no radar but we have radar a broken radar… Do you not get it?
> 2533274925960280;2:
> You…add…nothing…but more complaining!
I’m not complaining (well, only about warzone… It just needs tweaks), I’m just trying to state why bigger radar would be bad for arena’s current selection of small maps.
As I said, waiting for bigger maps would be better.
Just look at truth. That map felt huge in reach, now it feels like 20% smaller. everything is so close. Also, I don’t think its because of the sprinting or any other spartan ability.

yeah, I get its easier to see someone with your eyes than seeing them on the radar. But, what about when they are above you? or behind but aren’t running? (or simply fail the spartan charge and are disoriented?) also now you can hear their footsteps better. I am not defending the small range, just sharing why it is the way it is and why they will never change it. Seriously, if they wanted they would have day 1. It literally is a 10 second thing. Just change the setting on the playlist gametype settings.

And I’m waiting on the radar fix. Sorry playing like no radar every game is not fun or cool. There are gametypes for that… Bo3 radar works btw
The radar being longer allowed gor more fair encounters. The fast rate of kills+increased mobility with sprint, and spartan charge=most of the time whoever found someone first gets the kill. I mean honestly I can’t count how many times I’ve been spartan charged without seeing someone on the radar since they just sprinted up and then BAM.
If radar distance was such a problem in the beta then why didn’t anyone complain?

What’s Bo3?
also take my advice and don’t wait for it. They won’t “fix” it. Better wait for bigger maps and new gametypes or playlists.

Black ops 3… Also radar at 25m had zero problems in previous games and maps were similar size. What was wrong with old radar? “If it ain’t broke well let’s change it anyways” 343 entertainment. They read the forums so if we talk about it and give them feedback things will change. I’m not goi g to accept it as is

‘18m is reasonable’
now i am not 100% sure if you are saying this to defend the developers of your favorite game or you just stand in a corner with your back to a wall all game, but how you can think its perfectly fine is surprising
ive had people charge me from behind and i havent even seen them hit my radar. Either the radar situation is a joke or people can charge while crouching now… not sure which one is a more reliable statement out of the two…
i play on low sensitivity, and i have always accepted the fact that 8 or 9 times out of 10 when someone is behind me they will kill me… because it takes me long to turn around, fair enough thats my choice playing on a low sensitivity… but the radar on here… you dont even see people show up at all sometimes and when they kill you, they were in fact only like 5 feet away, its an actual joke… and obviously there are alot of people that agree with me… otherwise the complaints about it wouldnt be in such high numbers…
I don’t want them to change it on Team Arena. At the moment, the Radar range is a nice balance between competitiveness and casual-competitiveness fun. Increasing it would split the community between those who want it removed and those who want Radar just like the MLG and Matchmaking split in past Halos. MLG always had the fun gametypes, but I prefer the use of Radar. And, I want to play competitively casually, if that makes sense!!
For warzone, I don’t care either way as there are so many running around I just got used to looking toward their spawn base.

Yeah, maybe it works on call of duty, but in those games the radar works different. you only see them when they shoot, or sometimes its all the time. Only the heartbeat sensor allows for seeing them while they move.
As you said, they read the forums. They must have seen the other huge thread about “fixing” the radar. Still no fix. They won’t fix it. Seriously, no matter how much you complain, they won’t change it until bigger maps or other gametypes, or they tweak speed or something.
its an option for the gametype. It would litteraly take them 10 seconds to change it. It is available on the menu. they don’t even need to patch it. just go see by yourself on custom games. you can, as always, change the radar range on the settings for the gametype. If they really wanted to do it, they would have already changed it.

I completely agree with you sir!
Team arena is fine as it is.

I think you really should play on standard sensitivity, but otherwise, have you tried using the evade? or just walking diagonal? most of the time they will miss.
You should know xbox one controllers are slower than 360. (milliseconds, but slower)
As I had said in another reply, I am not defending it. I am just trying to explain why they won’t change it for the time being. Maps are just too small for bigger radar. That’s why the radar was 30m on the beta. now its 18m. I would agree to 20m but 25 like previous halos would be just too much for these maps.
All I’m saying is people should wait for bigger maps. and also enhance their defensive skills wouldn’t hurt. Just look behind you from time to time. also pay attention to sounds. you can hear them.

I wasn’t talking about you being some über MLG guy, I can tell that YOU’RE not :).
That part was specifically addressed to the MLG guys that want their rules forced on everyone.
Like I said, disable radar for team arena, as that is viewed as the big time MLG playlist and increase the range of the radar to halo 2/3 levels in all playlists besides the ones that disable radar automatically of course.
Then of course add game types like slayer pro that disable it. But as it is now, I find that this reduced radar range promotes camping even more than past Halos simply bc people are to afraid to move.
Just my opinion on the matter, I’m sure if enough people complain about it they will increase the range.
