To be real, this post is for everyone that is condemning this game solely for its monetization. If you don’t like the game mainly for its gameplay, then fine, to each their own.
Now there are gonna be a gang of folks that might read this and feel like I’m being apologetic for the way monetization is being handled in this game. I am not. We can all agree that $20 for one armor set is absolutely ridiculous and needs to be cut down to a 1/4 of that at least. We can also agree that there needs to be more free content unlockable from simply playing the multiplayer/campaign. I also would like to say the way they marketed the customization was super misleading which is lame.
Now that that’s outta the way I’m going to try to be as brief as possible. You are all out of your minds if you thought that Halo infinite was going to have completely free customization. Like how do you think they were going to generate revenue to support this game? The fact that multiplayer map, and sandbox (weapon) updates are completely free, and it’s still somehow overwhelmingly unacceptable to a good amount of you is just so weird to me. Not to mention THE ENTIRETY OF THE BASE GAME is also FREE, and there are still free armor/weapon/vehicle unlocks even if there isn’t much up to this point.
When I see comparisons to previous installments of Halo and the paid content from those games it all fails to mention the biggest difference between Infinite and those games. INFINITE IS FREE. And I’d hate for that to sound like an excuse for bad monetization cause that’s not my intention, but grow up for real. Like I’m convinced y’all refuse to have fun with this game because you are so pressed about an issue they have already addressed and started working to improve. Just try playing the game without being worried about customization for one session and you might actually enjoy yourself. And if you don’t, uninstall the game and quit telling the rest of us about it.
To end I want to make one thing clear. I don’t want the community to “shut up” by any means, because if we weren’t vocal in these first couple months, we would’ve never gotten instant changes to playlists and progression. All I’m saying is, the gaming industry is a business, no matter how it makes you feel. So stop expecting a free game with free map/sandbox updates to spoon feed you everything else for free.
P.S. this was a quick rant, could’ve been more articulate but Im tryna play Halo rn lol. I don’t care what feedback I get on this, I said what I said and I’m not gonna argue. Also $9 isn’t that much for an optional battle pass in a free game.

Literally nobody expected this. This wasn’t the case for Halo 5 and even MCC has additional paid skins.
I didn’t ask for this to be free. Aside from allowing them to get away with worse monetization, cheaters have an easier time cheating. This is a bad thing
I can agree that there are some people that need to chill out but if somebody had the postion that they did not like this game because of the monetary practices, I would understand and not tell them “but businesses need to make money” because that has literally been the case since the dawn of gaming and we have perfectly fine examples of games with acceptable ways of gaining recurring income that most people do not get upset about.

There is over $1,000 of paid micro-transactions planned just for Season 1. Over $1,000 in just the first few months of release represents a price increase of several orders of magnitude and by 343’s own admission they knew it wasn’t going to be welcome to their customers.
No-one is against them making a profit from the game but when all the content costs over 100 times as much as it used to cost surely you can appreciate customers pushing back?

Did you read the post? And does it matter whether or not the consumer asked for the game to be free? Are you trying to make that aspect sound bad in itself? Obviously cheaters aren’t acceptable and neither are the high prices in the store, as I already stated in my post, but anyone can play this game without spending a dime regardless of customization. That’s the whole point. If the monetary practices affected game types like how Halo 5’s monetization pretty much made Warzone pay to win, then it would be a fair argument to disregard the entire game. But it is an aesthetic component. That is all. It doesn’t affect how the game plays or what maps you have access to now or in the future. I literally said the prices need to change, but if you are now playing a free to play game because of optional paid cosmetics then you probably never liked the game in the first place.
Bro y’all did not read my post I stg. I SAID prices need to be lowered. MY POINT is that people are trashing the entire game for optional cosmetics like the game isn’t a fun Halo game period. A FREE Halo game mind you.
All of us can only ever really talk for ourselves but just because something is relatively minor or trivial to you doesn’t mean it is to everyone.
Obviously you’re welcome to your opinion but if people didn’t push back on this sorts of thing it would just be even more widespread and even more unreasonably priced.
Ultimately they knew this was going to be unpopular but they tried it anyway. That is 100% on the people that made that decision, not on any of the fans.

Yes it does. Free 2 Play games are trash. The paywall acting as a barrier to entry in and of itself actually improves the game. Halo was never F2P before so I had the expectation that it would be a game that you have to buy to play. Anybody playing this game without spending a dime is a bad thing because bad actors are able to take advantage of this.
Aesthetics matter and the highlight system is a perfect example of how the monetization has affected the gameplay along with the way people are playing the game to focus on their own personal challenges.
No. Some people do not like to think about money when they play games. This game has aspects that make that difficult to do for some people.
