they didn’t make the right call, though. they really didn’t. What they tried to do was make a game that appealed to those that played COD to persuade them to play Halo instead. They tried to appeal to the masses with all the gimmicks, loadouts, and commendations within the game. They abandoned What made Halo, Halo. they did this all so that more would play their game, and their fan base would increase, thus knocked COD off the charts, or at least to a lower spot.
what they forgot, apparently, is that Halo players hate COD. We played Halo because it was different than that horrid class based, low skill gap shooter. We played Halo because it wasn’t driven by K/D and maxing out your commendation, but by working hard to get a higher rank, and improving your skills. We played this game because it was more rewarding than COD.
When they essentially turned this game into a COD rehash, to compete with a COD rehash, they lost their core fanbase. They alienated everyone who played this game because it wasn’t COD, to try to win a few players over from it. But again, they didn’t realize that those who play COD do it because it’s easy, quick, and established. They play it because they have been playing it, and have no reason to switch to Halo.
see, in trying to win over players from a competing franchise they lost their core fanbase, thus dropping the numbers considerably. Now that they are seeing that they will never be able to take the core fanbase away from the competition, they realize they’re screw up. It’s my bet that Halo 5 will be much more like CE-3 because of this realization. but at that point, it might be too late.
At any rate, I’m happy for you. giving up gaming is something none of us ever really want to do, but your family comes first. And that’s awesome that you can accept your responsibility. Good luck man, hope to see you a bit around when H5 comes out, but if not, have a good life.
