Stolen Xbox..

What’s up everyone? I know I haven’t been here much, but maybe this could be a start. Or maybe you guys could just help out a bit.

I happened to have a piece of -Yoink- break into my house about a month ago, ended up stealing my Gears of War console. Cops checked it out, checked around outside… nothing to be found.

Yesterday, a friend of mine asked me if I had bought a new console… I asked why, and he said I was online. So I realized, whoever has it decided to connect to the internet with it, and it automatically signs into my gamer tag. Not a major problem, being that its downgraded to Silver and no credit card is connected.

So now I’ve been looking at my account, and see they’ve been using it for a week, downloading -Yoink- tons of stupid demos (Madagascar, Karaoke, Family Game Night) and I’m beginning to believe this is some stupid kid.

So the real deal is I’m planning on making a second account and attempting to send them a message, hoping to con the user (I’m believing it was stolen and then sold to some family or kid) into giving up some information to help me find it. They can’t send me a message back being that the account is only a silver account now, but I can make up some kinda -Yoink- prize winning or something and have them call a number or send an email with a home address. Any ideas?

don’t modern Police forces nowadays have the technology to trace IP’s to where they are being used?

so if the Cops know some stuff about your Xbox (gamertag, proofs of purchace) they could maybe trace it to where it currently is…?

You could always try asking nicely.
Halo 4 quote aside, this sucks. But really, if you think he sold it, then just message the people with your story, email, and ask where they got it from. If they just got it off ebay or something, odds are they’re nice people.

I believe so, however, i think county investigators have it, not local/town law enforcement. Ask Ka Five, i believe he’s part of law enforcement.

Well I’ve tried talking with Microsoft multiple times about it, and I’m not sure if they can. I know they don’t want to, being its their best interest to have me go out and buy another one (Which I honestly wouldn’t mind having the Halo 4 console…).

I think its up to the police, if they want to issue a warrant for it to be traced.

Is the account your posting on now the one that’s stolen? If so, just change the password. If not, there’s not much you can do because they’re not going to tell you where they’re at. Honest truth, you’ll never see that console again.

this

So, why are you telling us? Shouldn’t you be telling the cops this, or maybe change your password or something?

OP you should keep watching your account.

As for what you can do about your Xbox, sadly there isn’t much you can do unless you registered your console on Xbox.com with your name, address, console serial number, and so on.

At the very least you can recover your account on a new console and change the email address and password associated with your account.
