So this has happened to me multiple times. I hold down the melee button, go into the assassination, look in anticipation at the kill feed for the knife icon…and my teammate gets a headshot in the kill feed and I am left with nothing to show. Not even an assist. I don’t know if this has happened to you guys, but when it happens to me, I get annoyed. I like seeing the assassination icon and medal. I like the announcer saying, “Assassination!” I like getting kills and trying to improve my k/d ratio. One game, I had 3 assassinations stolen from me. That means I could’ve had 3 more kills and it would’ve looked a lot better to the others on my team. I know our team still got the kill, but that was my kill and it was stolen right out from under my nose. I’ve turned assassinations off so this doesn’t happen again, but I would really like it if I could assassinate people without fear of my kill being stolen. I propose that the person being assassinated is invincible from the time he enters the assassination animation to the time he dies from whatever is the end of the assassination. This way I (and maybe all of you, if you’re experiencing this problem) can actually get our well earned assassinations. Tell me what you guys think.
Probably going to be a unpopular opinion but I feel like trying to show-off and draw out a kill to make yourself feel like a badass by assassinating someone (something that’s so easy to do in a Halo with sprint, anyway) should come with risks. Those risks being: possibly being caught in the act and killed by enemies or possibly getting the assassination stolen. Perform at your own risk. Seems perfectly fair to me.

Yeah, especially if you trying to work on the assasination commendations and your -Yoinking!- teammates looks at you assasinate a dude and then take your kill by firing a shot in his head. Warzone has a bunch of -Yoink- and noob players.

I love doing an assassination too! I think 343i needs to make it so that the kill is locked in on that person unless the assassinator is killed by someone else.

Its funny that you mention this today because i had a guy steal my assassination yesterday. I normally wouldn’t do them because people have the tendency to steal or dieing in the process. But i was alone on top of the armory with one enemy so i decided to go for. When animation was almost finished he gets hit with a binary. The guy had a mic on was talking about how evil he was so I grabbed my mic real quick put it on and told him yeah that was a -Yoink- move. But then I admitted that id likely do the same so wasn’t that mad. Only solution is dont assassinate people just ninja get the kill and move on.

Yes, turning them off is the only solution. If you perform them, you risk getting killed by the enemy or losing the kill to a teammate(which shouldn’t be a problem for a good player, as the team score is all that counts).
There’s even a medal for stopping an assassination - showstopper. Getting killed when performing an assassination is an avoidable kill, which is why it’s always best to disable them. I have 22 of these medals, which means that 22 people lost their life just to perform an unnecessary animation.
I see people bringing up the commendation argument, to which I reply: Why should I care about your commendations? The win is all I care about in a team game. If you’re being selfish, don’t complain when your kill gets “stolen”. The very concept of a stolen kill is ridiculous anyway, as a kill is only yours if you get it. And a good team will call out one shots rather than pursuing them allowing their teammate to safely mop up the kill and allow the team to win.

You’re being unnecessarily smarmy about this. No they shouldn’t have called you a moron but your condescending “just turn assassinations off” wasn’t very useful. There’s at least two commendations related to assassinations and you and get them without the animations you consider extraneous. I think making it so the kill can’t be stolen would be a valid solution. Personally I think you should have the kill from the start of the animation just like if you had beat them down. The assassinations are a cosmetic choice and shouldn’t affect gameplay.
To the OP just play some grif ball and look for someone afk I got seven assassinations in one game. At least it helps with commendation progress. And kind of punishes people who can’t be bothered to play for some reason.

Seeing assassinations get stolen irritates me. Even When someone from the opposing team is assassinating me, and I see one of his teammates who can’t resist shooting my head for a free kill, I’ll feel sympathy for the dude who tried to shove a knife in my face like, “Man, -Yoink- that guy and his greedy spartan hands.”
