Stockpile should change to planting 5 seeds in enemy's base

Stockpile fails because nobody wants to play in the back. People want to be in the fight. I feel like if Stockpile’s mode changed from taking 5 power seeds to your base, we should take them to the enemy’s base. I feel like its more motivating for players to defend an ally is if they are walking toward danger. This can also prevent more motive to defend your own base plants as well. Most of all, games can last longer since its going to be more challenging.

We already have a mode where we walk away from danger and that’s CTF. The only way that feels as threatening is when both teams in Stockpile are competent, but since mass are casuals and just want to fight, Stockpile should be a mode to encourage that by planting the power seeds in the enemy’s base.

That could be an alternate game type called “Corruption”, in which you put corrupt Lifeseeds in the enemy base to sabotage it.

Thatd be cool like deletes the seeds they got

I have flashbacks of Halo5 Warzone where your team would get pushed back and spawn killed on repeat.

My only problem with making the objective to plant the seeds be in the enemy base and not your base, is that with that setup you’re essentially playing assault. So it kind of makes the mode seem redundant somewhat. But that’s just my opinion, it could still be fun, and it’s slightly different because you have multiple plants needed for sure.

My idea for changing stockpile would be to split the pile into a ‘major pile’ and a ‘minor pile’ every time a new stockpile comes in. Make the major pile 6 seeds and the minor pile 3 seeds. Then it might alleviate how often a team gets control of the entire pile.

I also think it would be cool if a power seed that you steal from an enemy base would count for extra power if you get it all the way back to deposit in your base

Well that doesn’t seem to happen on CTF. THough if that is a problem, then keep the plant points somewhere nearby the base instead of the center.

Kind of what I was going for. A BTB version of assault, but instead of one bomb, its planting five so you can compliment with the higher player matches. Though then I see that calling it “Stockpile” will be irrelevant.

I personally disagree, I think the problem of Stockpile isn’t players unable to coordinate, just not playing the objective. And my insight is that its because the players don’t want to be that player. So I offered my solution as above.

Errrr…probably because the tactics and
concept behind the CTF gametype is entirely different.

Its not about mode concept, its the spawning design. How they interpret where you spawn from where the enemy is can be the same where you spawn from your base stockpile. In fact, how it is now is already good as it is spawning away fromyour own stockpile.

Yeah, turn it into a multi-item neutral Assault mode. Think Neutral Bomb Assault.

If players could choose between slayer and objectives playlist, stockpile would work better !

Stockpile seeds should be fusion coils.

Stockpile feels too much like an overly complex Capture the Flag, I’d much rather have something which encourages charging toward the action. But I fear your suggestion may instead turn it into an overly complex version of Assault :x

Why not make Stockpile an Offense x Defense style game mode instead of Team vs Team? Teams take turns defending or attacking, assaulting the enemy’s central base. Offense team needs to steal 5 Powerseeds and return it back to their base, where it will be locked in. Defenders need to defend their 5 Powerseeds or recapture them if they get taken.

To give the Offense team a harder time, each of these 5 Powerseeds power up a Turret which can be used to defend their base against the Offense team.

3 round match, higher number of Seeds captured wins.

This would be the worst version of Assault ever

5 bombs in the enemy base to win? You’d be

A) Attempting to prevent the enemy from respawning at their own base

B) Having over half your team camping the enemy base trying to avoid dying, because if you have less than 5 teammates guarding the enemy base, they will get swamped by the whole enemy team, wiped out, and bombs disarmed

C) Attempting to arm 5 bombs would take much more effort than trying to secure 5 cores for your own base, because the enemy can just camp their own base the entire match and hold onto your bombs you try to bring to their base, so then you have no bombs, you can’t successfully stomp their whole camping team if your whole team is being incompetent and not helping

You now have to just sit 0-0 for 25 minutes as it goes the full timer and overtime, because your team couldn’t kill the enemy team and keep them away from their own base long enough to arm 5 bombs

You’re basically playing Oddball in a wasp nest. Sounds like a terrible game mode.

Feel free to make it in Forge by just swapping the team spawns to the opposite base, when Forge comes. If you do make it, make a topic, and I’ll play it just to see how painful it is to score a point.

All that being said, the best version of Stockpile was the 4v4 Halo Reach version where you just bring flags to a circle and hold them for the duration of a wave timer. The whole cores in the base machines thing prevents people from making Stockpile custom games in Forge
