I still haven’t seen any updates on the ranking system. They might actually commit with the horrendous invisible waypoint only ranking system. I know many don’t care about rank, but many do. It is so simple to let both parties be happy with this issue. They did it with H2 and H3.
I still don’t see anyword on letting us DROP THE FLAG. It is appalling that one would have to ask for such an obvious feature. A lot of strategy has been removed from the game without being able to drop the flag. Not to mention the big NAV point above the flag carriers head and auto-pickup
I still don’t see any word on a spectator mode for competitive players.
I still don’t see any word on symmetrical maps.
I still don’t see any indication of change with weapon spawns, both their rapid rate of disappearing and more importatnly the weapon spawn time. Things were so nice when a sniper, rocket, shotgun, sword, etc. spawned every 2/3 minutes.
I still don’t see any words about changing the instant respawning. Its just too much with sprint.
I still don’t play this game much since the initial two weeks. I really like the game for the most part. But without ranks, above all else, this game lost appeal quick. No one has mics or motivation to try anymore. Its just beating up noobs all day.
Unfortunately, ranks would make no sense since there is a “narrative purpose” behind War Games. We’re Spartans training in simulations here…it makes no sense if we go from Private to Colonel just because we played simulations right?
As for the flag, it promotes teamwork and prevents flag sprinting which we know a lot of little anusholes would abuse. Also, melee is a one hit KO with the flag so idk what more to ask for.

Giving the flag carrier a magnum with plus 20 percent damage boost doesn’t promote teamwork! It gives the escort a chance to be hold his own ground without his teams help…
Did anyone read that absurd response to the original post?
The kid probably made the most preposterous argument I have ever heard concerning the issue: ranks shouldn’t be added because it would damage the “narrative purpose” of multiplayer. Well, what will the 343 apologists think of next. I will waste no time arguing with that ridiculousness.
As for the flag, I’ve heard this argument. Its the one all defenders of the developers use. It seems they just haven’t thought it through, more likely they just are annoyed with all the complaining and are trying to argue for something they wouldn’t otherwise.
How does removing options add strategy? It is a contradiction in terms. There is no more baiting, no more throwing the flag off the stand to help your pinned down team, there is no more flag tossing, and there is no more simple running the flag part way then just dropping it to defend yourself. More options = More strategy.
Also, part of the reason 343 did this is that they wanted to speed up the gametype. Well, let us juggle it! Now many people don’t want to run the flag because of the goofy oppression of the developers. They noobified it, plain and simple. Things have been dumbed down in a horrific way.
That is the real reason behind changes in flag and the absence of ranks: they want the game to be random, chaotic, disorderly, and above all to be nooby.
It’s kind of inconvenient going to waypoint in general for stats, invisible rank will be a pain but at least it’ll be there, I’m not very competitive but I like to see how I’m doing in a game… In the game…? But at least it’ll exist in some form that’s a + from what’s been in halo lately, arena sucked entirely I’d rather invisible per playlist ranking over that.
Really you’d figure the progression rank would be hidden, since all it indicates is time played. Use the space for a skill indicator of sorts even if it’s total times youve been in the top performers or win loss for the playlist.
No opinion on ctf problems, flag juggling was irritating but even a 1-2 second cool down on carrier picking it up would have solved that while still allowing passing/dropping of the flag, but I don’t play much of it
I’m curious, why is flag juggling annoying?
Just in case anyone cares about why some think its a great thing here are a couple of my most liked parts about it:
I wouldn’t say it added a lot of skill, but it added some. For instance, in H3’s Pit you had to exert some concentration on jumping the flag from the plateau to the green box. In Narrows there were two shortcuts, one very difficult and the other hardly difficult at all but if the carrier died while making it the flag would fall of the map. In Heretic even pretty simple jumps like top mid to flag stand would result in fumbles.
Flag tossing/passing. In maps like H3 Heretic and Onslaught this was used occasionally. A carrier would have the flag on the ground floor, jump and pass the flag to the teammate on level with the flagstand. Also one the Pit when people would fumble the flag from plateau to green they could toss it up to green from the Pit.
It allowed for more strategy. People could try to blitz the flag with a run which was the standard and usually smarter choice. Or people could go for sneaky pulls. Sometimes people would just walk it for a good ways while the defensive team had to figure it out.
