I thought this ranking system was to be implemented early 2013 hence why i bought this game. Now, I don’t see any indication that they will be doing so within the upcoming weeks and it rather pisses me off. I am looking forward to the team doubles playlist but I could care less about specializations even though I am stuck at 70.
What defines early in the year for you? Because one, January isn’t even over yet and two, early in the year for most people would mean first qrt which is Jan-Mar.
Believe it or not it will be coming out in March…

From a few days ago:
“No information about it yet, but once there is we will let you know.”

You do know what “Ranking system” you are referring to, right?
The CSR ranking system.
The CSR ranking system will not be visible in-game, as Halo 2 and Halo 3 were.
You bought this game and put all of your faith upon the future addition of a online attachment to halo waypoint.
I wouldnt even call it a ranking system, just an addition to this site.

Well, I never said that in those words, but if you buy a game purely off of the assumption that a great ranking system will be added to the game in a few months, thats not very smart.
He obviously did not even educate himself on the CSR, or he would not be looking forward to it as much as he is; as it is not the traditional sense of a “Ranking system”.
indeed, one could maybe just… play the game? and have fun? thats what i do.

Not sure if that’s possible.
> indeed, one could maybe just… play the game? and have fun? thats what i do.
Some people require incentive – an acknowledgement of progress, and one from within won’t do.
> indeed, one could maybe just… play the game? and have fun? thats what i do.
Hard to do when the only ranking system, an XP that they copied from Reach, caps at 130 and had players hitting it 3 weeks after the release.

you play purely for a number in a video game? no other reason?
CSR won’t come out until after the TU and that’s not slated until late Feb.

When XP is the only ranking system you’ve got and it’s tied to commendations, specializations, challenges, etc. then it’s pretty shortsighted to allow players to cap out so quickly and then XP is worthless.

again, people need incentive to have fun?
Dude it’s just BPR 2.0. Who cares :(. If it’s not in game it’s useless.

It’s not either/or. But show me a Halo game where there wasn’t a ranking system and incentives tied to it. In Reach they removed a competitive system and put in an XP but at least you had to play forever to max out. A 5th grader could do the math in Halo 4 and show how quickly players would hit 130.

halo 1, halo pc and halo 2 vista ? i dunn bout vista but i played the hell out of PC… so fun. mmmhmm i still got my disc. Dedicated clan servers for 8v8 race maps and crazy modded games… oohh the days.

this, is just my personal feelings. But i hated the hell out of reach. for that. Im already 130, and i have been for weeks… and its still fun. But, the point being, is that honestly. Reach’s incentive wasnt to finish the leveling process. Especially when they capped you at LT colonel grade 3. and you leveled up to get armor attachments? that looked bad?
Do i want dumb sensor #1 or #2? does my wrist pad need a block of wood or a block of metal? I need me some FIREFIGHT VOICE? wut,?!?! get outta here. armor effects were the ONLY interesting thing and that seemed annoying to get and use.
