Do they not know that one of the big reasons people stopped playing Reach was because there was nothing to play for? I’m sorry but I will not buy a game just to play social games again I don’t care if there is an invisible rank, give us something that makes us proud and something to show off, it doesn’t have to be a 1-50 leveling system, just come up with something that rewards us for winning and penalizes us for losing so that we can work harder to get whatever the next rank is.
Do you mean something like halo 3?
Well the “SR” ranks will be invisible. Anything related to showing your built up skill is still a mystery. As far as player incentive we know so far is the unlocks through the ranks and the specializations after that.
Because a pixel is all that matters.

I dont get how a number that is supposed to represent individual skill, which doesnt even do that because its based on TEAM wins, makes you want to play. Halo is a fun game either way, and even without the number I still want to win.
Perhaps they are saving the best for last?
(Wishful thinking)

I thought the SR ranks were actually progression ranks…

IKR. Why people need a number to give them a reason to play the game is beyond me. We diddn’t have a number in Halo CE, and I don’t think that number was very noticable in Halo 2. IMO, All we need is a good TrueSkill that matches players with similar skill, and the current SR system. I don’t need no fancy number to tell me how I am playing my game. For others, I don’t care that much. Their Halo is their Halo, so if they need a number to give them a reason to play, then be my guest. I’m not hating on anyone, I just don’t understand why anything resembling 1-50 draws you to Halo, but the love of the game itself does not.
I doubt you get anything till October at the latest
It seems as though the SR is the progression system. I was hoping for icons but hopeflly level 50 has an icon or the specializations do. If not, I hope the numbers change colors every time you go into another specialization. Kinda like Gears 3 when you Re-up. Otherwise, just normal white numbers are boring.

Really?
Some people actually enjoy playing against people of equal skill level. I’m sure the 1 - 50 ranking system was one of the main reasons people played Halo 2 and Halo 3 for as long as they did.
Progression ranks are stupid. We didn’t have a rank in CE correct, but we didn’t have multiplayer matchmaking for CE either. I want to play for something, Halo has been going down hill since 3 was made so yes my love for the game is going down, therefore give me incentive to play your game.

Exactly.
I’m going to quote this for truth. “People are always going to cheat regardless of ranking or not. I hate when developers, specifically 343, use ranks as the incentive behind people cheating. People were cheating and boosting in reach DAY 1, and for what? Everyone can get Max rank in reach by just playing a ton. At least in halo 2 or 3, you would have to win to maintain rank, and If you lost, your rank would be in jeopardy.”
and in my words… it has a competitive aspect to it, I’m a competitive person, people need to work hard and use team work to maintain this rank otherwise what is a rank for in any game then, may as well have not even created the concept of “rank” in games if you’re all thinking of it as just a pixel.

If that is to assume that Halo CE diddn’t have online multiplayer, then Halo PC would like a word with you.
I know, the Xbox version never had live, but even if it did, how can you assume that it would be any differant than the PC version, which also diddn’t have a ranking system, it was just freakin’ fun to play. Why don’t you just find something you actually like about the game and its multiplayer and use that for incentive? You don’t need a number to give you a reason to play, and frankly, you do that on your own even with the number. Tell me one thing that couldn’t be solved by a simple Trueskill option that you can turn on/off for either accuracy/speed that teams you up with similarly skilled players if you set the system preferances for skill accuracy, that the 1-50 could do better.

Although I agree about skill, but the progression rank is all that has been shown. For all we know, the invisible rank is likely something similar to the BPR currently used on waypoint. Which is something I can deal with.

Yes. An Olympic Gold medal is just a hunk of metal too.

You’re gonna compare a number (which isnt even reflective of your actual individual skill) to a gold medal?
Seriously get the f over it. If they have it they’ll let you know about it. If not you will still buy the game and play it to no end. Seriously stop making posts about this.

Lol no I won’t, I’ll get bored of it after a month just like Reach.
