since halo 3 one thing that could have been the best thing to happen to the series is a match browser to join custom maps in progress. Farcry 2 did it to great success, it was fun and easy to see what other people made. Farcry 2’s big downfall was it just wasn’t that fun of a game itself, and the amount of players were too low.
Halo is a huge audience, and in every halo game with forge they talk about all these cool maps, THAT NO ONE PLAYS. No one wants to go through the effort to invite a bunch of friend s and random players to your custom match to get uneven teams.
add a custom match browser, it’s should have been done with at least halo reach. It will be a huge hit and could even be used more then matchmaking
allow filters for game types, maps, ect.
watch as hundreds of thousands, instead of hundreds, see how awesome the maps community members make are.

It’s been done before, and this is supposed to be halo the flagship xbox title, its bad enough we only get a few exclusives but when 3rd party titles have better features? come on now…

It’s only been done a few times and it was never, what I would consider, “proper”.
It is possible to do but game devs typically don’t share things with otehr game devs.
so you never played farcry 2? I suggest you pick it up for $5 or w.e because it is not only a proper map editor it is a proper match browser, though I doubt there is many playing it anymore.
If memory serves, I believe the reason they stated they would not do this is because it completely defeats the purpose of MM. Unless their stance has changed, I doubt we will ever see this.

I have it. The map editor is fantastic and the match browser is okay. Not perfect, not awful.

no it wouldn’t though, it would only be for custom maps, and you wouldn’t rank up or earn anything, it would be for fun. It’s sad to see forge go to waste like it does this will be the 3rd game that people make maps that no one really gets to play.
I would LOVE IT. Being able to play on my favourite maps whenever I want would be beautiful, but I can happily live without it. I get that it’d be tricky to implement. Fingers crossed for the next Halo’s on the new Xbox (I’m assuming they’ll be for the next Xbox)

I can see their point. It would sort of compete directly with MM. I know there are those that don’t play MM and play strictly customs, but adding another option would detract from the MM player base.
clearly, this is a desired feature, do devs actually look at this forum? could a dev at least try to get this in the game, maybe not even at release but in one of the spartan op dlcs?

I really do not have any of my old friends from the previous halo games on my friends list, and the few friends I do have that play halo do not like custom games. I need more friends lol.
A Custom Browser will never happen. What would be the point of matchmaking if you could browse for custom games?
Also, it will ruin customs much like matchmaking ruined Firefight. It takes away that unified ‘team-play’ experience and honor rule system that you often have in customs and forces it upon random players you don’t know.
