I’m SR 144 in Halo 5, I’ve put hundreds of hours into the game. I maxed out every unlock in bronze and silver well over a year ago, and have been buying exclusively gold since. And yet, I have not unlocked the H2A BR, or the tactical magnum, or the gunfighter magnum, or the extended magnum. I’m at an inherent disadvantage because of this when I play warzone, even when I’m playing against guys who are 50 levels below me. I’ve unlocked every Hannibal certification, and yet I haven’t unlocked a single magnum/BR variant. Were the variants some kind of timed exclusive BS? Why 343? Why?
It’s an RNG system, so there’s no set timeline for when you’ll unlock those items. Keep opening packs and eventually you’ll get them. If you stop receiving unlocks from Gold packs, then there’s an issue.
I earned 100% of the cosmetics around the end of SR147/beginning of SR148. I didn’t start using the bronze silver gold method until I had 50% of the unlocks completed (I had only been buying golds) and I believe I started receiving the magnum cards around 90% completion and after.
The H2 BR was one of my very last unlocks. Depending on how close you are to getting all the cards, you should get the magnum/h2 br reqs in the very near future.
I got lucky with the h2br, around 147 if I remember.
The pistol unlocks were at the very end for me.
If I remember correctly, these items can be obtained from the standard gold packs. However, it takes a bit of time to unlock everything from Gold Packs. If I remember correctly, I did unlock everything at around SR120 but a huge contributor to this has been that I have pretty much exclusively used the strategy to unlock everything from Silver Packs first and that I did manage to get a large number of Gold packs from the Halo Championship events (after I maxed the req collection from Silver Packs).

I’m only level 91 but I get your point- noobs running around with gunfighter magnums and wasting you instantly against your BR/AR.
Your probably just unlucky for a guy who has every silver/bronze permanent unlock. You get 2 random permanent unlocks for every gold pack and every time you unlock, you get rid of options from the pool of permanent unlocks. Also, keep in mind that the halo 2 BR is mythic so it will take some time , whereas the magnums are ultra rare so they will take time too.

The gunfighter magnum is so bad tho. It’s like the br of magnums… way to much kick up. I would just run with a magnum and dmr for warzone until you get the h2 br. A set up that normally works for most encounters unless you get blazed in the face lol
Long as you’re getting all of your Silver and Bronze weapons, etc. Then eventually you’ll get those as well.

Welcome to the unrewarding grind of an RNG system. Who knows what you will get? Who knows if or when you will get what you want?

That’s crazy. Keep unlocking packs man, first time I’ve ever heard of this.
Open Silver packs until you start getting credited back for reqs instead of permanant unlocks, that way you aren’t wasting 5,000 req points to unlock a common or uncommon cert.
That is really the only advice there is for unlocking that has worked for me.

It isn’t bad, just a little OP.
It was mean to be a assault rifle for magnum fans, and it is, just that it was too accurate and headshot damage is tremendous, whereas AR only does extra damage when shields are popped and aiming for the head which is impossible.
There are weapons that can counter that and they are called power weapons-preferably called a SPNKR or Rocket launcher that would possibly do a little against the DMR and gunftr magnum.
What you really need is a sentinel DMR and gunfighter magnum as you practically a long ranged handgun man or a short ranges sniper.
